335i used warranty?
Hi all, new to the forum.
Just purchased myself a e92 335i 2009 on 42k miles. Now with all the horror stories with turbos and HPFP failing, I've looked at getting the BMW warranty. Now, I would like to keep the monthly cost down so am I better getting the 'named component/driveline' cover or go for the comprehensive cover? Also, what would void my warranty? Obviously things such as air filters and exhausts would but what about visual mods? Such as black grills and spoilers, is that going to affect the cover? Thanks guys Rob |

Go for the comprehensive imo
They aren't all horror stories, the internet just blows things out of proportion. No cosmetic mods have affected mine (spoiler, splitters, different wheels and grills) and I've had quite a lot of work done on it.

With those kinda miles warranty would be fairly inexpensive & worth having.
It maybe that your lucky & very little will go wrong. Worthwhile doing at least for a year. Mine had done 52k when I bought it with no bmw warranty & I didn't bother to take one out. Fortunately there's only been two expensive items that needed replacing during my 5 years of ownership, hpfp & electric water pump Had I had 5 years of bmw warranty it woulda cost me around 4K + any excess fees

Welcome to the forum mate.
I've got fully comp on both our mini and E90, never had any issues claiming for both cars. Even things such as wheel bearings and clutch/flywheel replaced for free. My E90 went in for a new clutch/flywheel with 19 bbs ch's, kw coilovers, 6 pot brakes and they never questioned it or tried to get out of paying. They really have been great and I wouldn't have a BMW without the extended warranty now. Worth every penny in my opinion |

Personally, I went for the named component option, which covered all the "horror story" items and then some.
FWIW, my 2009 335i never had a single one of any of the usual things you read about, after 3 years and 20k+ miles. Sold it on 90k and still had no signs of any problems at all. In my opinion, it was more than likely the earlier models where the problems were noted, and then subsequently sorted out over the years. |

It's worth it for piece of mind, chances are at 42k you won't need it but the bits that do break aren't cheap! I went for it purely because of the timing chain issues on my engine but it's already paid for its self in other ways

Get the warranty!
I've had my 07 335i (60k miles) 3 months or so, just had the Hydro pump done via BMW, would have been over 2 grand in total to fix which was covered by that lovely warranty. Didn't even have full BMW history! |

how long do these warranties make you wait before a claim? as in what stops you having a fault, confirm its a biggie, then take it out, wait a month or what ever the wait is... then claim and cancel it?
other then our morals.... |

30 days and yes nothing is stopping you from taking it out, waiting, claiming then cancelling.
However if you have a fault code and it's logged by the car, and the date of that code is before the warranty starts, they will class it as preexisting and you can't claim |
