M3 front strut brace center firewall

Quick question for those that have installed the m3 strut brace, putting the center piece through the rubber boots to connect to the firewall... mine are glued in. Any tips b/c I'm of the opinion there is no angle possible. I put one end through and held it with a vise and stretched as hard as possible but still not even close.

Any harm in cutting? Mine aren't clipped on like others' as you can see. TIA
