You were an early adopter! We waited until '82. I think it was "only" $800 by then. We also went all in on DAT instead of CDs. Oh, we had a laser disc player too. My family has a long history of betting on the wrong tech. LOL.

I'm happily reformed. No longer chasing the latest trend. Instead, I let my good friend who is a total tech geek chase all the trends. I swoop in 2 to 3 years later and provide the means for him to offload his "old" TV, camera, phone, tablet, etc. I literally buy all my tech from him. Yes, I'm always a few years behind but I'm 10s of thousands ahead. I recently picked up his 2 year old Samsung 60" flatscreen for $300.

Same here. I only purchase a tech that's been out a couple of years and ALWAYS on massive sale. I got my 75" in a few years ago for $978. Same with all of the 42s around the house. A couple of hundred each and I'm happier for it!!
