What kind of software / hardware do I need?
I am changing the solenoids in my zf transmission on my 07 e90 and I came across I need software (in this post: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1193573) to reset the solenoids. What exactly would work to reset them? A BMW specific scanner? Such as this: https://www.amazon.com/FOXWELL-Autom.../dp/B01N6RKE29
Am I missing anything? Does anyone have any suggestions on what to get for the scanner? Thankyou! EDIT: Figured this out myself just have to get a usb to odb2 adapter and install ista. Last edited by Kilser; 08-15-2018 at 12:19 PM.. Reason: Figured it out. |

Clearing transmission faults requires a scanner that handles the BMW OEM-specific OBD functions. The one you linked to does not. But the Foxwell NT-510, with the BMW-specific software, will do it. I had to replace the ZF transmissions on my E46, and bought the Foxwell to clear the faults after installing the new transmission. Works wonderfully, and lets you talk to all of the controllers on the car - engine, transmission, air bag, DSC, ABS, HVAC, audio, and a dozen others. Worth EVERY penny of the $150 cost.
