http://www.foxwelltool.com/wholesale...d-version.html Hi, If you have the NT510, there is no need to change NT520. Both are the same scanner, the difference is NT520 add Benz. Other car brands software and funcitons are the same. You still can add extra brands to your NT510. Best regards Emilia |

Please tell me how to program new Footwell Module/Headlight Check Control Module
Foxwell support is no help. ECS is no help. Q&A and forums no help so far.
I can not figure out what menus to go through on my schwaben for BMW. I have a new Footwell Module/Headlight Check Control Module and I need to be able to program it to the vehicle's odometer/VIN. Could someone please walk me through this? harleymarlboroman at cox.net Thanks in advance. This is all I can get from the owner's manual. 5.4 Coding and Programming NT510 allows for the coding and programing of a replacement control module or changing previously stored incorrect coding. Coding also known as Teach-in Program or Component Adaptation. It is the process of selecting and activating one program for a specific vehicle from a set of programs that the factory installed in the control module. This allows one control module to be used for different models, countries, and emission applications. Programming is the process of taking a blank control module and then adding the correct vehicle program to memory. |

You will need software like Ista D & Ista P to do that level of programming etc. |

^ This. What do you really expect from a $200.00 device?

I've tried both the Schwaben/Foxwell NT 510 and the Icarsoft BMM V2.0 on my E90 to register a new battery. Both devices will register the battery as new, but neither has the option to change the amp hour value or type (AGM to Lead Acid) I have a 100 amp lead acid installed and the readout shows I have a 90ah AGM which must have come with the car. I am the second owner and the car had a lead acid battery in it when I bought it. I replaced the battery as it was over 3 years old and wanted to start fresh. Had I known what the car came with, I would have simply replaced it with an AGM. But I'm not tossing the battery I just bought. Thankfully I am not having any issues with starting and charging. I've checked the charging system to verify. I have a meter for this since I'm a retired auto tech.
I tried the icarsoft first and sent it back, then the Schwaben and sent it back too. Both are nice hand held tools, but as others have commented, they are limited. I'm considering the Protool by Bimmergeeks. I'm trying to find out it their app can handle the registration, amp hour and type when doing a battery. Anyone with hands on info, please chime in. I know one can buy a cable and instal INPA and the like, but I prefer a hand held device. Some say Carly can "code" a battery, but again anyone with hands on experience with Carly please chime in too. thanks |

Update on the Bimmergeeks ProTool. I received an email from the team over at Bimmergeeks and was told their tool can definitely handle the complete Battery registration and coding (change amp hr value and switch from AGM to Lead Acid) So I ordered the Blue tooth Protool adapter from them ($52) and downloaded the app (free) on my phone and tablet. Per the tech at Bimmergeeks, Once I receive the BT adapter and connect it to my phone or tablet, I can then purchase the diagnostic license $75 and a coding license $50 which will enable me to run diagnostics and coding for not only the battery, but a host of other things which are all listed on their web page. (bimmergeeks protool.com) Hopefully this set up will be as good as BMW Fanatic says when he promotes this on his you tube channel. I'll update when I get things up and running. I have another reason for buying this setup, as I want to run a scan on my car and document it's findings before I take the car in for the blower motor and pcv recall. I'm not very trusting of dealers, so I want a record of the way my car was before they get their hands on it. I plan to take pictures and complete a "check in sheet" with the SA at the time I drop it off. I want documentation as to the condition (interior and exterior) with photos, and paperwork outlining the condition, mileage and fuel. I also intend to discuss with the SA both procedures they are to do for the recall. I plan on checking over the car before I pick it up when the work is completed and will run a complete scan as well. Any irregularities will be brought to their attention before the car leaves their building. Having been involved in the trade my whole life, I know full well what can happen at a dealers service department. I'm hoping the precautions I'm taking will cover me in the event of a problem.

I purchased the Schwaben Professional Scan Tool from ECS Tuning last year. I have four BMW's with four wheels, and it has been used on all of them. It saved enough USD's to pay for itself in the first two uses. It doesn't do everything, but it has been very useful. With free lifetime updates and the ability to use on other makes of car, for additional USD's, I think is was a good purchase for us. We also work on all of our cars, and a bit of work for select friends/family.

I have this tool. In retrospect, I'd get the foxwell version. That way I could add another brand of car to it for $60.00
