what is my 335i worth??
I’m trying to gauge what I can get for my 335i, I’m making the jump to an m3 come spring. E90 2007 335i manual w/ sports package w/ 68k on it. I bought it with 47k on it 3.5 years ago. Have done a ton of maintenance – Water pump, thermostat, OFHG, HPFP, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, coils/plugs, walnut blast, tranny/diff fluid, brakes & fluid, oil change every 5k since ownership. I’m lost because I see cars with my mileage going for 8g-15g depending where. Any insight would be appreciated. |

Would need to see photos inside and out to give a more accurate appraisal, but rough estimate for a retail, private party sale? $9,500 - $10,500, depending on how fast you want to sell it. Remember, irrespective of what people say and how you feel about the car, it is still a 12 year old vehicle with a known history of costly maintenance and fair reliability. Buyers will take that into consideration. If trading it in, or selling to Carmax - wholesale on the car is around $5,000 - $5,800.

I knew about the maintenance issues with this car before purchasing so i go the extended warranty, that has saved my ass on maintenance costs.
Its very clean on the interior except for the interior of the drivers door panel has some pealing, see link https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=539841 Also the famous steering wheel peal. I might try listing it for 12g in the spring and see what pops up, ill probably have 70k by that point. the resale on this car is horrendous! thanks for the input. |

FYI, from someone who has nearly 20 years of executive management experience in the automotive sector, fix those paint peeling items before listing it for sale. You would be amazed at how little things like that can turn so many buyers off of a car. You can replace both of those parts yourself for very little money (less than $200) and you will have alleviated the issue of every potential buyer seeing that and getting a bad taste in their mouth.

Pictures would help but your maintenance history is great and will increase the car's value more than the low mileage will. I'd probably start at 11,500 or so and I think if you ended up anywhere above 9,500 it could be a fair deal for both parties. Location is also a factor, so this is based on my area.

Well, in the car's defense, it is a depreciating asset. BMW's don't depreciate too much more than any other premium or luxury vehicle.

Seems like luxury sedans depreciate like crazy these days. Maybe it's always been the case but the SUV craze does not seem to be helping things.

You should be able to get $9500-$10k all said and done. Low mileage but it's aged.
What model M3 do you plan on buying?

A few years back I paid near $14k for a 2008 6 spd manual. Non-Nav but had everything else. And around same mileage.
(Only difference I see is that it doesn't have the oil-cooler. But that's not huge.) Water pump, thermostat - $800-1100 job and Indy shop. Parts are about $500 total. OFHG, HPFP, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket - these aren't cheap as the labor is pricey. coils/plugs ($400 just for parts), walnut blast ($200-300?) If you have receipts and can put them all in a PDF or super clear photos of all of it, and clean the crap out of everything with great photos you can get a decent amount back. Since it's a manual transmission, stick to your guns and don't go under $12k. Post for mid/high $13s. |
