The output cable for that is not a bus, it is individual signaling per control/button. |

E-series cars are BN2000 while F-series cars with NBT are BN2020, the messages need to be transformed. This is in my opinion why the adapters for E-series are so much more expensive, they need to do a lot of research to determine how to transform the messages.

Back to the Evo, I emailed my dealer plug and they think there is a pre-made obar cable that you can buy. I am going to call the service manager tomorrow and hopefully they can find all of the retrofit cables. Last edited by Nickco43; 01-03-2019 at 08:21 PM.. |

Quadlock pin 14 on E series cars is listed as:
14 E Signal, locator lighting Connector, dimmed instrument lighting on the Evo, it is listed as: 14 E Locator light and ambient light Front Electronic Module Any idea why the retrofit guides say to cut this wire? |

evo / nbt Hu are not designed to use faceplate that is hard wired to original cic HU.
this wire was used to turn on baclklight / lights on cic faceplate and i think enbt emulator takes care of that since faceplate is directly connected to emulator |

Ah, that makes sense.
I have a 440i loaner for the next couple of days because my 2010 is in for recall work. Coming from CIC, evo id6 is *really really nice!*. Faster, better organized, radio stations are sorted by frequency instead of whatever random RDS signal the CIC picked up over the last few years... I'll try out carplay later after I get some work-work done. Overall the car is a lot of fun, but I don't think I'll ever be happy with an automatic transmission. Since I'm waiting for a video cable to be able to test *any* of my gear, I might at least make sure the two screens I have work, by, well, popping them into the loaner Would be nice to test my head unit too, but I'll probably have to hack together a cable so it doesn't pick up the VIN from the car and lock itself up. |

I found my ntb unit last night and discovered that's its actually nbt evo.
Most likely ID4 because hardware is 2.3 and B143. this should be 2gig version. I ordered 6.5 inch screen today just for testing since I don't even know if my evo is functional. Like you said , I wouldn't connect unit to your loaner because it will lock your unit because of vin mismatch. |

My Evo, ATM and amp arrived. My Evo has DAB radio but is a US version. Mashman I messed up and bought a roof ATM. Can I just buy the antenna from the donor car and put the ATM + Antenna in the trunk? Last edited by Nickco43; 01-04-2019 at 07:34 PM.. |

Amp is in and working. The EQ is way off. I need to get someone local to tune it. Updated: I used EQ settings from the 7 series forum. It sounds better but I think someone local needs to sit down and tune the E90 for the new amp. Before the summer time I will need to wire in an amp fan. I am going to use the CD changer pre-wire power cables for the fan. https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh.../topics/850611 Last edited by Nickco43; 01-04-2019 at 11:47 PM.. |

Tested the 8.8 CID in the 440i loaner, it won't power up. Exactly the same model as the one in the car, so I think this one is dead. Hopefully I can get an exchange or refund :/
Going to try just pumping raw 12v into both of the screens i have to hopefully get a no signal error i guess. should've done that when i first got them. Last edited by vilord; 01-05-2019 at 10:20 AM.. |

similar luck with my evo. looks like there was acid spill all over the unit that basically made HD fail. I opened it and cleaned as much as possible since motherboards look ok. My 6.5 inch test screen should be arriving Monday afternoon.

I'm not sure if I should get anything on the screen with just power... sucks not having a CID cable. Will the old CIC cid cable with if I run power separately?
At least my evo powers up, though I have no way of testing it out. I guess I can make up the oabr cable, send in +12v to the right places and a KCAN wakeup signal, and see if that causes the ethernet port to open up |

I am ordering a few things from car systems on the 9th. If anyone wants to split the $40 Euro Fedex shipping cost send me a PM and I can add you on to the order.
The eNBT emulators are $400 euro = $456 USD x 3% US Paypal Feels X 4.4% international Paypal fees = $476 USD CID Voltage regulators are $25 euro = $29 USD x 3% US Paypal Feels X 4.4% international Paypal fees = $31 USD |

At Nick's suggestion, I hooked up my NBT to the car instead of the viewtool usb thing. NBT powers up, same as before, but the front panel lights work, eject works, and i can reinsert the cd it came with (Guns 'n Roses - Use Your Illusion).
Nick also suggested testing my car's iphone, so i installed the connected drive app, added the NBT's vin, then plugged it in. it got an error reading the VIN from the NBT directly, but when I started up Pandora, it transferred control to the NBT (which I can't see, because no display cable). Seems like my NBT is good! Now back to the waiting-for-a-cable game... |

newer evos require 7.5VDC to properly power on cid. that is the only thing power converter does. I build one using some amazon parts for less then $3 (converter). |

I think the evo puts out 12vdc (measured 14 on the CID output port on my evo), and the non-evo CID wants 8.2-ish volts, that's why a power converter is required to go from an evo HU to a non-evo CID.
trouble i'm having is with touchscreen evo CIDs |
