I've been inspired by everyone's wagon builds. This E91 popped up and I couldn't pass up...

I'll try to document my process as best as I can.

Trying to go for an OEM+ build, no timeline in place but trying to bring it to Watkins Glen this year just for shiz and giggles.

Here are some specs,

2011 E91 Alpine White/Red Brown Interior 328i RWD in 6 Speed with 102,000 miles. No Navi so no hump in the dash, halogen lights, no PDC, just panoramic moon roof.

Currently has damaged roof and broken moon roof, hence the shop photos. Previous owner said light pole fell on it during a storm.

Plans

Replace moon roof and repair roof
Maintenance
Spark plugs, ignition coils, flush brake fluids, engine, transmission, gear oil
KW V3
Upgraded Brakes Rotors and Track Pads
M Sport Front/Rear Bumpers/Side Skirts
Retrofit the headlights
Full detail
Remove tint and replace with 50%
New OEM Style wheels but I think my Race RG4s will look great on this car.

And then... Drive it to it dies and do S65 swap! [emoji38]

It will be a slow update for sure, just like my other cars.

Mike

very rare interior and it looks like you got a euro performance intake in the deal. Looking forward to the build.

Color combo is great. I look forward to following the build. OEM+ is perfect!

Congrats! I almost bought that car. NJ was just a little too far for me to verify condition so I passed.

Might as well do a color change on the headliner since it'll need to come out to fix the sunroof.

Looking forward to the updates!

Thanks for the heads up, I don't know much about this platform. Looking to get a M Performance Exhaust for it as well, possible 3 stage intake too.

I didn't inspect the car either... I just bought it.. HAHA
Photos from the shop, keeping it budget.. Was going to do slicktop OEM roof but my shop will repair it as it's not too bad from underneath.

If its not too late you can look into hard motorsport carbon fiber insert for the moon roof, but I'm guessing you have a pano roof. In that case the insert wouldn't work.

I'd skip the money on the performance exhaust and just delete the muffler. If you are looking for mods you have the following options:

Headers - AA is probably the best bet
3 stage intake manifold - bolt on option with really good torque gains down low
n54 intake manifold - a bit of custom work required but it should be cheaper and less prone to failure - sacrifices torque down low but more hp up high - would also need a tune
tune - bpc is the go to people for this
intake silicone boot - relatively inexpensive and easy diy
MILVS - modified supports for the valvetronic that give you more lift at WOT - consider doing this if you need a valve cover gaskets repair

thats pretty much it for proven gains. Altogether that would get you about 40whp and the same amount of wtq.

that's a lot of work for 40 hp
may just leave it as is and drive the wheels off and then s65

thanks so much for the info

True. It’s about $1500 on the Low side for all that. Nothing in gains compared to our fi brothers. Might be more worthwhile to get an lsd and tune the suspension.

Little progress but windshield is out, there was a chip in it and will make painting easier. Replacement roof glass is in as well.

Next up, paint!

Picking up a set of Style 219 M for this tomorrow. Will probably sell current wheels for dirt cheap if anyone interested. Not sure of make it model.

Holy cow!! That is the right combo there. Euro intake! Wow!! Great pickup!!
219 wheel will look great on that car too.
Highly recommend the M3 steering wheel. Will not disappoint. It will complete the KW and fatter tires.

No words...
Why would you put dry wall screws to mount this... now dash and trim are trashed.

Anyone know what brand these wheels are? I'm going to sell them... For cheap... Like $200 for everything without Tpms.

I think there are dash repair kits you could get. Putty like material and I know there are some smart diy's for replicating the texture, like using hot glue and taking an imprint of the dash then taking that when putty is setting and imprinting it.

I think I'm just going to cover it with a cellphone mount, hide it and not worry about it till later down the road. There's more important things to attend to. LOL

Looking for coilovers and a headlight retrofit because these halogens are horrible...

is the 2011 even n52 or had they all been n51s by then?

If it's n52, the 3 stage manifold drastically changes the engines character.
it's worth it.

mine cost me $150.
