New front discs and pads and an oil and filter change this last week. Advertised it for sale as the draw of an Alpina F31 D3 is strong.

No expenses other than fuel for April.
I noticed that the O-ring/washer on the underside of the header tank filler cap had split when checking coolant level today. Am not sure if this is available separately or if I'll have to buy a new coolant cap, I'll have a little internet search later.

Not so much a cost but ordered a z3 cargo net that sits in the passenger side footwell, sick of things rolling off the seat so trying it as a bit of a retrofit

I have just replaced 1 tire for MOT in 2 weeks time to the tune of £110, but all hell is about to break loose from my spending for i spied an Msport rear bumper and skirts for sale locally at £130, which is a bit of a bargain - so bought those today, same colour, no marks.

Now, whilst that is very little in the grand scheme of things, im swayed into finding
1) carbon rear diffuser (the one on the bumper is only single exit)
2) Two 4" pipes for the originals would look lost
3) repainting the Inspiris i have sitting in the garage
4) Sourcing an Msport front bumper
5) painting the newly aquired front bumper & bonnet to get rid of the stone chips
6) replacing the lens on the headlights because they would look rash with the rest of the car mint
7) fitting an LSD. because... well you know its obsurd without one

One hell of a can of worms ive just opened! lol

Just fuel, the new expansion tank cap & insurance this month.

I received my car insurance renewal today £540, £350 excess, fully comp with mods decleared, me & the missus with protected ncb & premium brake down cover, £10 cheaper than last year
A quick on line search reveals only one insurer offering a cheaper quote of £519. I can't be bothered with the form filling & sending proof of this & that to save £21, so I'll stay with Grove & Dean.

This is the first year that my insurance has actually come down in price for many years & it's unusual that my current insurer is actually providing a quote for an existing customer that isn't over priced.
Hopefully things are changing with insurers, are your current insurance providers offering competitive quotes or are they still charging a 'loyalty premium'?

Depends what you call expensive. No BMW is cheap but the 335i is no worse than others.

It depends how you calculate the figures like all statistics you can make them read how you want.

This month, for example, I paid £555 VED but in reality only 1/12th of that is for this month the rest is in advance so this month's expenditure is £46.25!

Similarly last month I paid £180 insurance so this month has only really cost me £15.

Add a gallon or two of petrol and is about £70 for a month cheap enough?

You will find a lot of the posters on this thread include upgrades that they want rather than need so it is unfair to accuse the car of being expensive to run if you include software upgrades because you are not happy with how BMW programmed the gearbox or mega-turbos because the standard ones are not fast enough to mess your pants regularly.

The expensive bits you cannot avoid are a set of injectors and a high pressure fuel pump so unless you find a very low mileage car best look round for one that has had these bits replaced in recent history. Alternatively make sure you buy a BMW guarantee since these bits will then be covered.

You can run a 335i on a (BMW) budget or you can spend a King's ransom if that is what you wish. It is your car

Bloody radiator has sprung a leak. Am not impressed as I had a new one fitted in February 16 & the cars covered only 24,000 miles since, am not sure what make it is.
I could get an EIS one for £98 but am thinking that it may not last so I'm not going to buy it. Main dealer wants £360 & they wouldn't tell me who makes them, so I've pretty much made up my mind to buy a Hella one, £195 seems reasonable.

Does anyone have any input on Hella or any of the other manufacturers? As for fitting it am going to have a Google to see how difficult it looks, I suspect most of the work will be moving stuff out of the way.
I fitted a new rad on my e36 328is & it was easy enough but those were the good old days when you could easily work on your car.
Also going to get a price from my indie for fitting, if it's not too expensive I'll most likely let them do it.

I hate it when that happens
Nothing goes wrong or needs replacing for a few months, then just when you've had a genuine running cost such as ved, tyres or you've decided to treat yourself to a mod because the cars been running so well....something expensive to repair happens

Having paid the ved & insurance, mine then needed two rear tyres..Not because they'd worn out but because the 35i ate the the inner edge of one, both still had 4mm of tread left & now I need a new rad...If it's got tits or wheels it's trouble

£194 for a Hella radiator, £15 for two bottles of Bmw coolant, they were on offer, usually £13 each.
Cars booked in for Friday to have the rad fitted, only £110 So not worth me spending hours trying to fit it myself.

The shuddering under braking has also returned it was cured last August by having new lower arms fitted and having had the suspension checked by two different garages this week, both of which say everything is good with the suspension & steering parts they have both pointed to a slight drivers side brake imbalance & both have said warped discs.

Personally I'm a bit dubious of this diagnosis as it was the same one I was given last time by a different garage to the current two & it turned out to be the lower arms, which I suspect it may well be again but as changing the discs is a job I can do myself I thought I'd try a pair Ate this time as they were only £154 for the pair & hope that I'm wrong & it is 'warped' discs.

This will now be the third set of front discs I've fitted over 60,000 miles.
I changed them all round not long after buying the car to Brembos then a few years later I started getting brake judder, as the discs still had plenty of life I had them reskimmed which cured it for a while. I then changed to Pagids when the juddering came back, which were fine until last year when the brake judder returned & was caused by worn lower arms, I'm just thinking maybe the garage that renewed them didn't fit oem parts as I've read a few posts on here of lower arms failing after a few thousand miles.
Anyways I'll fit the new discs at the weekend & see if it fixes it.

After dropping the 35i off with the garage for 8am, I have Just had a phone call from them to tell me that they can’t do the rad today as it’s only been booked in for an hour & as I have an aftermarket intercooler it’ll take them 3 hours & they don’t have the time to do it today.
What a bunch of arseholes, they had the car in to find the coooant leak the other day & told me you’ll need a new rad, now we can’t fit it in an hour because we will need to take of the intercooler, It’s only a mishimoto intercooler with stock couplings.
Grrrr so annoying.

Mrs Chappers picked up the 35i from the garage that didn’t fit the new rad this afternoon, fortunately she drove straight home only about one & a half miles, the main reason I booked it in at this place & there’s often some nice BMW’s in the customer parking area, so I assumed that they’d be ok.
Anyone notice anything amiss in this picture?
