Hi Guys hope you are all well

Just came across this awesome thread & I will give it a go on my car.

2012 e92 with CIC Pro nav iDrive 8.8inch Screen

Just wanted to confirm what is the latest maps for Europe/England?
Also does this update anything else eg the iDrive user interface/options etc?
I have coded extra features/options on my iDrive & through out my car with Bimmercode, will this update affect this in anyway?

This only affects your maps.

Nothing else is changed or modified in any way.

You must have CIC Premium for the script to work.

Many thanks, updated to 2019-1 Maps, my original was 2011!
I believe the latest West-Europe maps are 2020-2 but I was not able to find them anywhere, will keep searching...

What would be the best/easiest procedure to update in future??

Nice going!

Easiest is to get the maps from a vendor.

Now that you have your 1B file you can generate a lifetime code for the car if you wish...

Then keep a watch for a more recent torrent and install later maps at will without needing a new code.

When i generated the code i did tick the "Lifetime" option, so just to confirm does this mean in future i just download the latest map to usb & insert in car then use the same code as before?

ECE version 1.5.20 and generic VIN returned from 1b.hex

Hello,
I have the same version 1.5.20 - maps europe premium 2009-2, attempting to install 2019-2;
placing the usb stick with the copie_scr.sh, the 1b.hex file were generated.
Opening it with an hex editor it shows VIN 1234567 generic and a date like 20080923122.
The USB autoupdate starts but it bocks on wrong key generated from the same FSC generator.
The same as yours. The problem seems to be in the generic VIN returned from copie_scr.sh
How do you solved it?
Thanks kind regards
A.

Road Map Europe PREMIUM 2009-2

I already downloaded the "Road Map Europe PREMIUM 2018-1" and put in a 32bg usb stick.
And i recover the file 1B using an usb key. I then generated an FSC code with the bmw_cic_fsc_generator.zip tool.

I followed all the steps described by Portalseo on the first post, however when I put the usb key in the glove box, they asked me the activation code when I enter the FSC code given by the Genrator it told that the code is wrong.
What should I do to pass this step?
I'm waiting for your feedback
Thank you

Hi, yes I think you have a earlier firmware version which doesn't write your vin correctly hence the error, if you read through the thread it explains how you need to get a obd adapter to get the code manually etc.

I have had my 2012 e92 for 1 year & bmw said the maps were the latest when I got it!
I managed to find the latest West-Europe 2020-2 maps on GPS power.net, its free to create a account.
thank you once again to this great thread & everyone that has contributed

Yes I had read your comment. So I tried to hex edit the 1b.hex placing my VIN instead of 1234567 but no luck.
Reffering to third item of your post:

original 1b.hex
123456 1234567x1234567

become after my edit
687191 A687191xA687191

(my vin A687191)

processing it in FSC generator but the code wont work...

Thanks and kind regards.

Now all you have to do is insert a new update when it comes out and you will NOT be prompted for a code.

The map will install automatically once you start the process.

You will have to download the persistence file manually from the car using an enet cable.

Then use the command line generator.

Got it updated to 2020-2 thanks for the great instructions. I thought the usb on my car wasn’t working since I bought it. I tried several usb drives over the last year and none would work. The first usb I tried that didn’t work decided to work the second time. First time I left it in for a minute and nothing second time just over 30 seconds and boom it worked.

What maps do you currently have installed? (use iDrive to find the map version and year)

Your problem seems to be similar to post #544. Refer to posts #544 and #545

Here's my experience using an ENET to OBD2 Connector (I recommend you use Firefox)

Another successful map update. Thank you to everyone that has contributed to make this possible!

I have a 2010 F01 with CIC and production date of Nov. 2009. I have the check mark next to the "i" on the bottom left corner of the map. I was able to use the FSC generator. Interestingly the code I got for the 2018 and 2020 map NA Premium update was the same but it make sense since when I first selected the 2018 map (not knowing if I was able to get the 2020 maps) I selected 'lifetime' so the code would not need to be re-enter for future updates, so I guess that's why the 2018 code was the same when I got the 2020 maps and selected that to get a new key. It took about 55 min for the update but maybe because it was the 2020 edition it took a little longer than the 2018 reported times. No complaints though. I used that time to catch up on emails and stuff using my phone LOL.

I left the driver door open to make sure the car didn't go to sleep and hooked up my battery trickle charger just in case.

All the required files were on 1 USB stick so I didn't have to swap or rename any sticks or file folders. Wait a few seconds after inserting the stick in the glove box slot. It won't do anything for a few seconds. I almost thought it wasn't going to do anything, but after a few seconds I got the prompt that a new version of the maps was ready to be installed. After I gave it the go ahead, it asked me for the FSC code which I entered and it took it!. After the update was completed, at first the map version screen was blank. I turned the power off. Waited a few minutes and when I checked again, it was showing the map version on the screen!

Thank you again everyone for helping to make this possible!

Hi ! I have been trying for a few days to update a cic navigation for the EUROPE EAST PREMIUM 2020-02 maps.
I extracted the 1b.hex file from the car, then I put the files for the update in a 32GB stick formatted fat32. I got the update message, but the code doesn't work. I tried lifetime and simple a lot of times. Can someone help me please?
I own a 2010 e90
Here is a photo with update on navi if this helps
