Also, testing the CIC input can be done with a dashcam or gopro. Anything you can do to eliminate variables makes this less frustrating.
CIC input is good. Works with a Pioneer camera, but will not take an Xbox feed.

Will try to see if the +12 from the battery will give a feed.

No dice. Can't get the camera feed to display on CIC. +12 to battery and ground is to battery. Camera still displays on the TV though.

Just wired everything but unfortunately i get no video feed. The cic does show the new screen with the pdc that still beeps and warns of objects as normal.

The R button stays checked, can't uncheck it or anything other option for that matter. Does that point to anything obvious??

I'm in Europe so I connected the negative rca to pin 28 and positive to 18. One thing I do suspect could be an issue is the fact that those rca pins didn't go all the way into the harness...do they slightly stick out or should they go all the way in??

The yellow is the positive rca pin and black is the negative rca pin, as you can see they are still slightly sticking out compared to the other set on the right...

I have properly tested my camera before installing it and also made sure it was grounded properly by hitting the positive wire against the positive terminal on the battery.

I don't think your pins are all the way in. They should look like the ones in the rest of the quad lock. Make sure the pin locking tab is point up for the one in the upper row and down for the one in the lower row.

Hi Smass, I've got the yellow one all the way but the black doesn't go in any further. If I apply any more force I'll bend it.

I'm starting to think I might need to order another set. But the question now is, how do I get the yellow one out of the quad lock because it's wedged in pretty tight?

Thanks

I think you need a special tool to get it out of that style of quadlock. There is a hole that is used for removal. The pins should slide in easily. Try rotating it 180 degrees.

There are ways to monitor the can bus but that is above my skills. You can test for 12v+ on the white wire. That shows that the emulator knows the car has been put in reverse.

Did your CIC switch to backup view prior to emulator installation? Switching to the backup screen with a gray box (IIRC) for video generally means that the emulator is probably working and that your issue is input pin or wert related.

The screen coming up would indicate the emulator is tell the can bus you have put the car in reverse and is setting the screen to the camera, so it seems to be working and the issue would be the video signal input to your CIC.

So could be the RCA cable isn't connected to the right pins or the camera has no power etc etc - I tested mine with an old VCR, but if you can find anything that has a composite output (single RCA video ouput) you can plug it into the RCA input and see if you get that picture, or if you have an TV with a composite input you could plug in the camera output to that to see if you see a pic.

Like above, check the white wire for power if you are using that - that was not working on mine and I used the reverse light to power the camera anyway as my old camera was wired that way. Ultimately narrowing it down to the camera has power and a video signal or using a known good signal to prove the CIC gets the video will help narrow the issue.

I'm pretty sure my rca pins are messed up.

Does anyone know the size of those terminal connectors that slide into the harness??

I might need to order another set.

have you try pulling out the lock piece (blue) on the side?
before pulling out the lock piece, it's impossible to go all the way in.

just installed mine last week, no issue.

^^ what he said, you need to slide the blue locking tab out the side and then insert the pins then slide the locking tab back in.

Good point. I forgot about that. All my cars were built before they started using that blue locking piece.

Does anyone have the autofocus emulator with white wire working in a car without pdc? I was doing some testing to find the simplest way to do this retrofit and I can't get this emulator to make the CIC screen to flip to PDC/camera view. I have tried different coding for the past few weeks now and am about to give up.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Reversing-I...53.m1438.l2649

I have a different emulator in my other E90 and it works fine. My best guess is that emulator does RCV and PDC emulation where the white wire one only does RVC emulation.

When using pins 18/28 for a European E90. Should the RVC_CIC be wert_21?

Mine is currently set to wert_23 as per the OP and doesn't render and video but I do get get video when using an external monitor.

My guess is that changing the coding to use wert_21 might do the job, can anyone confirm?

Thanks!

After much perseverance, I finally got the back up camera to work, well sort of:

The issue was that I need to code wert_21 (pins 18/28) for my European E90.

I absolutely jumped for joy when the video finally came on but unfortunately it only seems to come on once every few tries, not sure why that is...

Any ideas?

Make sure the can bus wires are twisted the entire length.

They are fully twisted all the way and reverse screen comes on and off as soon as the gear stick is moved. It's the camera feed that's intermittent, not the new reverse screen...

Other members have reported this issue from page 22 onwards where the camera feed shows the first time and then followed by a black screen where the camera feed should be on subsequent shifts.

Also, if you switch the car off and leave it for 10 mins or so, it starts working again. It's a bit of a weird one...

Got it. Double-check power and ground for the camera. I had a camera that worked fine on a test monitor but was intermittent on the CIC. It was a loose ground. CIC does not ground to the video cable shield.

I've double checked the wiring and it's all good with no loose connections otherwise it wouldn't even work the first time. I've reached out to autofocustech and this is what they said:

Hi,
This is not the emulator's problem.
The problem comes from the camera.
The camera can't get power when second shift to reverse gear.

I find this really bizarre that the camera wouldn't get power after the first shift into reverse. This is the camera I've purchased:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/153151350780

Anyone else experience this?
