Thanks for the reply bcoz, tried that but same result. Nothing happens when clicking the drop-down.
Version is correct at v1.91

Try running the generator as administrator.

It might not have enough rights for the folder it is in.

Thx for the help opjose but still no progress. Tried on Mac OS, same problem and Linux versions just gives me a "Segmentation fault (core dump)".


Can it be my VIN (J842909) is causing the problem?

No, I used your VIN and picked the first available date in 2013 (2013-01-18) and gen'd a Lifetime code ( SDARLXX4DZVWOAFJAD7Q ) . See pic below.

If you want, give me the Production Date of your car and I'll generate some codes for you.

P.S. Do you have 2 files ("Lookup.xml" and "RSAKeys.txt") in the same directory as the Generator .EXE (for Windows)? If not, the program may not have WRITE access to the directory.

Don't have my computer with me but will send a screenshot of what I have ASAP, all those files are there, same folder, running as admin. From memory, Rsakeys only has one not so long number in it though, not sure if it should have more.

My comments:

• Your .EXE looks fine at 7,512KB.
• Your Lookup.xml looks fine at 788KB. Lookup-20101029.xml seems to be a backup at 0KB. I have 5 backups, with the 1st at 0KB, so it all looks OK.
• Your RSAKeys.txt is 1KB with 1 entry. My RSAKeys.txt is 42KB, but I also have 2 backups with the 1st backup at 1KB with only 1 entry, and the 2nd at 31KB.

The RSAKeys.txt file has got to be your problem. My understanding is that it contains the data used by the 'By Date' function.

I will attach a copy of my RSAKeys.txt below. Test it out and see if it works.

Works now, thanks a lot :-)
Strange that I had the exact same issue on both Windows and Mac OS.
Will go and try to update the maps later in the day...

Update: Sadly, none of the generated codes worked so I guess I'll be sticking to Google Maps, especially that now it asks for code when I launch the Navigation :-( Not so much of an issue as I hadn't been using it for a while (maps were from 2013 haha)

As per the OP, the 'By Date' feature (RSAKeys.txt) is based on the assumption that the RSA key is not necessarily unique to each car, but may be shared across multiple cars built within a short time window.

You cannot add your own data to RSAKeys.txt. You need other people to volunteer to share their car's data with the author. If enough people do so, then some lucky people may benefit, but ONLY IF their car was built within a similar time frame to the data already captured in RSAKeys.txt

That's why the 'By Date' feature is experimental/unsupported.

As highlighted by oscho in post 353, there may be a problem with the 'By Date' feature of FSC Generator version 1.91 (the Date drop-down remains empty or greyed out):

In the case above, the RSAKeys.txt is 13 bytes in size with a single entry "201910291531Z" as seen in post 362: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showp...&postcount=362

After downloading a copy of my RSAKeys.txt file (41.6 KB in size as per Post 363), @oscho was able to get the 'By Date' feature to work.

I was able to reproduce the problem by downloading the BMW_CIC_FSC_Generator-Win32-1.91.zip again and unzipping it into a NEW Folder (using Windows 10 v2004). After running FSC Generator v1.91 from the new folder, I experienced the same problem as @oscho (the Date drop-down remained empty or greyed out). The downloaded RSAKeys.txt (1KB) in the new folder is also 13 bytes in size with a single entry "201911011046Z".

I originally downloaded FSC Generator version 1.9 in February 2019 and ran the 'By Date' feature successfully at the time (and afterwards). I subsequently downloaded Generator version 1.91 into the same folder around June 2019 and it continues to work using the original RSAKeys.txt file (Date Modified: 27/04/2019, Size: 41.6 KB). I think that since version 1.91 (or sometime afterwards), the Generator has stopped downloading the most recent copy of the RSAKeys.txt file (but continues to download Lookup.xml).

In case you want to follow this up, I have attached screenshots of the 2 folders used:

NEW Folder (v1.91 downloaded 01-Nov-2020) - 'By Date' feature FAILS (drop-down is empty).




OLD Folder (v1.9 originally downloaded 26-Feb-2019, then v1.91 later) - 'By Date' feature works OK.
