Just punctured my 19inch tyres! Can I swap to OEM 17s
Had my 330d e93 1 day, hit a pot hole and blew the front tyre. Can't live with this sort of shit! Current wheels are 19'' 230 style with staggered widths (8 upfront, 9 wide rears), can I switch to OEM 17'' wheels (front and rears 8 inches).

BTW, you should see the list of the available tire sizes in the drivers' door jamb, there should be a label with all the relevant infos. |

Will the 17'' wheels deal better with potholes?
I assume the 17'' can cope with potholes, the higher tyre wall and lower tyre pressures providing some sort of extra give?

Possibly, yes. I use the 17'' in winter for this exact reason. However, they don't work miracles: if the pothole is deep enough you will crack the 17'' too.

Recommend minimum 35 psi but I run 37psi. 18" XL rated tire with 37psi should be pretty robust. Drove like that for years without a problem. First week I get convinced that it's just causing an unnecessary rough ride and lower it to 33psi I get a bent wheel... Even managed to bend my winter 16" wheels when they were at 32 psi. I am running style 157s I also got sick of the flats with my 230s even with 245/275s trying to get more sidewall. We didn't get the 330d here so I don't know what size your brakes are but only some 17s fit over the 335i brakes. 16s are not an option.

Hey all, just to say I too got sick of the bone-jarring ride and having to slow to under the speed-limit to get over a speed bump...swapped to BMW 18" from OE 19" and the difference is staggering. Firm ride remains, but now can drive around town without constant fear of road-surface imperfections.
