New wheel and tire suggestions
Hey guys, I'm guessing I'm the millionth person to make a thread line this but I'm new, go easy on me.
I got a silver 2006 325xi and I've been a fan of the black style 359 wheels. Are there any good replicas that will fit on my car pretty well? Without any modifications ? I also want to get some spacers because at the very least the stock wheels are really far in and I was thinking of doing 12mm in the front and 18 in the back PS, while I'm here, tire suggestions? |

Apex EC-7 looks very similar to the style 359, and they seem to be popular around here. I'm considering new wheels, specifically a 17" square setup with 255/40-17 or 245/40-17 all around, and I like these a lot. VMR is another popular brand, also a sponsor here. You can probably even get them with an appropriate offset where you won't even need spacers. They both offer detailed fitment guides for the E9x and there are a ton of members running both of those wheels who have posted photos, so it's easy to figure out what you need. As for the tires, what's your budget and what's your priority? On my 325i I just wanted a cheap long lasting tire and went with Continental's budget brand, Barum Bravuris 5HM. They were under $100 each, made in the USA, and I have no complaints so far. They're significantly better than the Goodyear Eagle Sport all-seasons on my 330i. Mo_Bimmers, you don't put spacers on wheels just for fun and just for looks, as you can screw up the handling. Remember, you're driving around in a 3500 weapon, that can kill at the drop of a hat.
That said, I'd call TireRack or Discount Tire Direct. They can provide you with proper wheels with new tires mounted and balanced. They also give good advice to prevent you from winding up in a ditch. Costco also sells wheels, and they will not sell you anything that doesn't fit your car. They also stand behind what they sell. Been there done that for both Discount Tire and Costco. |

There are tons of aftermarket wheels that look like the 359s. It's been one of the most popular wheel designs for quite a while and most of the usual suspects who make BMW fitment wheels offer something similar. What you should be looking for is a set that has better specs(width/offset) in order to not need spacers.
As for tires, personally, I like Michelins for either all seasons or summer only tires. Indy 500s and Hankook Evo12s are popular budget minded options. |

Go Apex or oem bbs rims. Toughest wheels out there. Get the smallest rims your brake caliper can clear.

Save for the almost negligible amount of added stress on the lug bolts, there is no meaningful difference between running (high quality, hubcentric) spacers and a lower offset wheel. It's contradictory to say "spacers will screw up your handling" and then recommend different wheels with specs that the suspension wasn't designed for.

The "mesh" style is very popular and I think it looks great. Lots of aftermarket versions that will fit - Apex wheels are nice - lightweight but durable. I'm not in the black wheels camp but if that is what you like . . . I think it's mostly a generational thing.
I'm also not in the "really big wheels with little rubber band tires" camp. Aside from not being enamored of the look, it sacrifices function for form. These cars are just right with 17s, okay with 18s as long as you go with non-run flats - bone jarringly hard with 18s and run-flats - ask me how I know. Running 19s is just asking for a pothole explosion that destroys your expensive wheel and tire. On my E91, which came with the OEM 16s, I first went with 18s with run-flats. Couldn't stand the pothole explosions so went with 17 inch Style 66s with non-run-flats (Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ 225/45ZR17). Perfect! Good luck whatever you decide. |

I just had the Michelin A/S 4 ultra high performance tires installed on my rwd E90. I must say, I’m extremely happy with them. They performed really well with the snow we had recently, in the tristate area. Definitely recommend them.

I wonder how they'd perform in snow outside of this tri-state area. Last edited by stewbets; 02-22-2021 at 12:57 PM.. |

I just wanted you to know that the tri-state area used to be the bi-state area with another area adjacent to it. But now they have been unified into the tri-state area. You're welcome.
