I thought this was a good opinion piece which, as stated before, creates drama, and hence money for F1.

"The Hamilton-Verstappen title fight just got personal and F1 is the winner"

"Verstappen has always been clear he will get his elbows out and Hamilton has now served notice that he will not placidly stand back and take it. With the win and Verstappen’s DNF, that 33-point gap has been reduced to eight, which will doubtless rankle hugely with him and Red Bull."

This isn't anything new from Hamilton, he'll even bump his teammates out of his way.

Seems like you missed the whole point. It's called racing, and certainly not for the soft-minded. again, the winner is F1 simply because they want the money that all this drama makes. They are banking on the Hamilton/Verstappen rivalry right now, just as they have with other rivalries throughout their existence.

One of the most interesting things about the internet is that you never quite know who's on the other end of the computer screen. For example, you could be making a comment like "racing is not for the soft minded" to a licensed, experienced racing driver & racing instructor with a closet full of trophies and a championship or two under their belt.

Very interesting place, the internet.

And the internet lets you be "a licensed, experienced racing driver & racing instructor with a closet full of trophies and a championship or two under their belt," or a doctor, or a scientist, or hell anybody you want to be. Interesting!

Was watching the tour de France and continuously noticed LeClerc signage. I know LEC is from Monaco and most likely from a loaded family. But, is this LEC's family business? Sorry if it's a stupid American question.

He doesn't turn his head to look into corners at all. Fascinating.

I was talking to Ross Bentley about this a couple weeks ago and he mentioned that he can tell when he's working with a driver who spends a lot of time on a simulator because they don't turn their heads nearly as much as drivers who primarily practice in a real car.

It's not a judgement on Max, obviously, as he's one of the best drivers in the world; I just found it interesting

I think you missed the point. It's a shot in the dark to call out someone as such and such you do NOT know who they are simply based on a what they write in the internet. Other than MkSixer who has shared who he is, what he does etc., very few do. I don't think he said who he was, just gave an example.

Now if someone says who they are, whether or not they are telling the truth is another story.

The whole point I was trying to make to him is that, I believe, FIA allows for all this drama because there is a lot of money involved. Imagine, if either Max or Hamilton were removed from the equation, F1 would be boring, knowing that an equally great driver was out of the mix. Max deserves the championship, this year, but it will not be handed to him. Max giving Hamilton serious competition, creates a lot of drama, hence fanbase, and huge money. The caveat is to do so safely, as no trophy is worth a life.

Your point brings up a very good observance. As you stated, you're into racing. With that in mind, I am certain you use your mirrors religiously. Isn't it possible that Max does not, or even as much as he should? Why did Max not see that Hamilton was in his space, and continue in that direction, knowing what the outcome could be?

I honestly have no idea, with regards to how much or little Max uses his mirrors.

I can say that mirrors on open wheel cars aren't particularly useful, especially when traveling in a bend at that speed. Max likely had a pretty good sense of where HAM was.

If it was one of our races, it would have been ruled HAM's fault and he would have been DQ'd and likely suspended for a race. Our rules state that it's the overtaking driver's responsibility to complete a pass safely, and contact to the rear wheel/quarter panel area that causes damage and/or deviation from the line is a textbook 'punt' and would result in the aforementioned penalties. Obviously...F1 has different rules

Of course Max uses his eyes & mirrors!!! As stated before, IMHO, Max turned in because he saw HAM brake and presumed he backed out.

There is a great video on YouTube if I can find it. It concentrates solely on Nico Hulkenburg's eye movement for an entire lap. The number of times Nico checks his mirrors is unbelievable!!! I would think most F1 drivers are just as capable or they wouldn't be alive.
