I agree that Miami is risky as I've lived in Florida and seen the horrors of what has come from there BUT as with anything there are good and bad.

I recently bought a very nice example 2012 wagon w/a manual gearbox, only about 66k on the odometer from the Miami area and she's a keeper, no complaints.

When the only other manual long-roof option is an alltrack (and those discontinued in 2019...) makes sense I suppose that people would pay top dollar for prime examples.

I was referring to the pre lci halogen wagon above.
Everything else seems fair for what it’s worth.

If you paid for a timing belt, someone took advantage of you.

What a gem! 1 owner, low miles, no accidents and dealer maintained.
RWD/6MT/ZSP in the very rare color of Deep Green and a reasonable price.
Somebody go snatch this one up quick!

I contacted this and the response was this
"Unfortunately the vehicle is not going to be sold. It does not pass our safety and reliability standards after going to the mechanic for a check up."

I visited the dealer this morning. The touring was not in the used car section. The salesman told me the vehicle had mechanical issues and one of their technicians was buying it.

Oh, that is awesome. Mechanic identifies a car he wants (perhaps for an easy flip on his own), and disqualifies it some how from re-sale on their lot. Nice!!

Nothing unusual there. Dealers typically scan every car that's traded in to their inventory regardless of intent to sell; notice how it didn't even have pictures yet. Lots of cars end up being wholesaled, sent to auction, bought by employees, etc., and never end up retailed by the dealer that takes them on trade. I'd guess dealerships are retailing the majority of their units now, though.

FWIW I bought my second and third E36s this way while I worked for a dealership. My 325is was traded in for $3,000 and I bought it for $3,500 from my store. A few years later, a guy was going to trade in his E36 M3, I paid him a few hundred bucks more than the dealership would give him on trade.

Yeah, this happened to me before, very disappointing. Tried to buy A189734 from BMW San Rafael back in 2016 when it first listed, prior to any pictures posted. I spoke with the sales manager daily as we negotiated the purchase and the car went through the reconditioning process. I offered multiple times to put a deposit down to hold the car but they declined. A week later, they told me it failed the "safety inspection" and they couldn't sell it... I never saw it pop up at auction so always assumed a tech snagged it or a higher bidder came in and scooped it from me. Anyways, it all felt a bit shady so I'll never do business with San Rafael.

I wasn't coming from it at that angle, just wanted to share my experience being on the other side of the dealership fence

It's super disappointing when you feel like you found a diamond in the rough and it doesn't pan out.
