I have owned & loved all three brands below. My attempt at describing why with one word answer per each.
* BMW : Brawn * Audi : Soul * Honda/Acura : Practical Last edited by sfbimmer; 09-16-2021 at 07:05 PM.. |

This is an utterly boring post at this point in the thread, but it's Porsche for me. Specifically the 911, which was my first and only bedroom poster car. I've had a few of them over the years and 4 of my current 7 cars are Porsches. I'm a lifer with the brand at this point.
I will still always have an affinity for BMW because of the community they had in the early days of the internet and the dominance (IMO) of their products from their 80's to 2010's. |

I like different brands from different eras but if I had to pick just one, then Toyota.
For brand new cars I actually like Mazda’s and the fact that they’re still making an effort to make their cars fun to drive. |

If I had to make a choice, I should go with Mazda and Ford. They're not my favorites, but these manufacturers produce promising cars. My first car was a 2013 Ford F-350, I have always been a fan of dually wheels set up.

I learned to drive stickshift on my father's 1987 RX7 and it was the first sports car I had ever been in. The first proper sports car I owned was a 1999 MX5 - to this day it's one of the top 3 cars I've ever driven. When the RX8 came out I bought it. Amazing, amazing, amazing. The car was lightweight, revved to 9000rpm, sounded amazing, and had 50/50 weight distribution. The car was especially great because I knew how to take care of the rotary engine and it required the type of regular maintenance that allowed me to feel like I had become one with the car. I kept this car for 12 years and 160k miles without any issues. If they release the RX9... I will buy it without a doubt! |

Datsun is by far my favorite. I just love the styling of Datsun and early Nissans up to about 1978. Anything from the 80's is meh. Nissan still tries to stay true to the sports car and the Datsun/Nissan heritage while keeping them relatively within reach of the average enthusiast. It just sucks that the drift crowd snatches everything up and destroys them. Porsche is my dream. Just about everything looks amazing. Theres very few models of Porsche that I don't care for. I think Aston Martin and Jaguar have some masterpiece designs and models, but I'd never want to own one to drive it, but if money was no worry theres a few models I'd have parked in my living room just to look at. |

Porsche for me. Styling, performance and history. Ferrari for the same reasons, although not likely I will own one.
Lots of Porsche and Audi mentions on this thread. VAG is in a good place now with their business, imo. 2 or 3 MB mentions in almost 60 posts, and those mention classics. Not surprising. Today’s MB vehicles are frequently riddled with new car as-delivered problems and have questionable mid and long term reliability. |

Gonna say Dodge and Ford, they do make some good performers especially considering their prices. I’ll avoid the negativity in this thread since it’s asking about the brands you like, and I don’t really like and have very mixed feelings about one brand which frequently came up here (spoiler - it’s not Porsch), a vehicle from which I unfortunately own right now.

Always been more partial to cars than brands. Like I wouldn’t say I love Chevy as a brand but I love my z06 vette and I loved my s4 - and I enjoyed the 21 X5M enough to look at M3 (would love to get a m5 comp but to late to game I think).
Hell would love a Porsche (love my parents Macau GTS). But every time I get close I find myself unable to pull trigger (price/value thing for me I guess). For example I like GT4 but would almost rather a HTC C8, since the MT has long gears and they recommend the auto for the GT4 on street. So many great cars out there. |

I'm partial to Mercedes, pure German tank especially the 80's/90's models I owned in the past but the modern ones have always treated me well and very pleasant to drive.

As I mentioned, love Porsche but the ones I want are all double and sometimes triple what I paid for my Ms, which is unfortunately not feasible for me. Don't see the prices coming down anytime soon either. M cars are that sweet spot of fun but attainable for me.

Hmmmm.... not sure I'm a fan of any particular brand, but if forced to pick a brand I guess it would be VW. Mainly because my first few cars were VWs. After that probably BMW although I don't care for anything they have done in the past 10 years.
Other than that I'm a fan of certain cars, but not really any brand and apparently I'm one of the few who has never had much interest in Porsche. I've always found their interiors so incredibly ugly I could never get into them. I think they may have improved now days but I guess it just kind of turned me off the brand. Never driven one, so maybe that's why also. |

I agree with everything in your second paragraph. M cars give their Porsche counterparts a good run, even though i no longer find them compelling for non-performance metrics-based reasons. You didn’t mention which Porsches you want, but it sounds like they’re GT’s and Turbos based on the ‘2x or 3x’ comment. If you really want to experience Porsche with a BMW budget, the base Caymans and Boxsters are really, really good - although I’d get a NA flat-6 and not one of the turbo I4’s. I’d also love to recommend an old air cooled 911 but all of those are suddenly out of reach price-wise |

Before my 2021 X6 M50i I had a 2018 Jaguar F Pace S. Not a bad running car although it did not have the engine power that the X6 has. I always heard that Jaguars had problems but in the 3 years I owned it I can honestly say it was trouble free and it was fun to drive.

I have a 2022 M50i coming in a couple weeks. I'm curious to hear your assessment of the X6 so far. Likes and dislikes. Mine is Arctic Grey with white/blue interior and I was able to opt for the Bowers/Wilkins upgrade.

I'm coming from a 2020 FPace S. My wife decided to take the FPace so it'll stay in our family. Jag is a fun drive but infotainment is so quirky!
