Here's something you may appreciate TiMSport given your proclivity to Asian culture.

Haha interesting. Just so you know, my proclivity to Asian culture doesn't reach this sort of thing though, musically speaking. I'm not really an Asian music fan so to speak. There are a few exceptions however.

Oh and I threw Candlebox in there precisely because of the reason you touched on. It's a departure but I think that band is relatively unknown, especially to the younger generation. Everyone knows Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden but I'll bet many don't know Candlebox because they never got over that hurdle and reached stardom. Ironically these other aforementioned bands did and then some, but as we know, some took their own lives as a result which is tragic.
You're not wrong. I have never heard of Candlebox before tonight. Having only listened to the two songs you presented I'm not sure they had anything to offer that stood out as identifying their individual sound, if you know what I mean. I think it takes something different or unique for a band to "make it big". With my very limited (so far) experience with Candlebox I don't hear anything that makes them stand out.

No worries. Just thought I'd throw it out there. You don't know what you don't know, amirite?

This is my favorite song by them though I posted this several months ago. You're right though. There were a ton of bands in the PAC NW trying to make it and many of them had that sort of style and sound, but most of them don't make it big. They end up doing the small bars and live houses scene but don't make enough money to survive. Such is the life of a musician.

I listened to this one pretty closely. It's a good song. Not outstanding but I can definitely see the talent behind it. I think, and this is simply my opinion, the band needs to exploit the singers sound at the 3:45 to 4:00 point of the song. He has a great voice and needs to lean on it a bit more instead of just going with the band. Does that make sense to you?

For those not familiar with this band from the 90s out of the UK, Catherine Wheel. They were an awesome rock band. Had all their albums, saw them live in the 90s. Yep, I was caught between the local grunge rock scene and alternative rock out of the UK. (then of course you can also throw in the rave stuff but that's another subject).

Catherine Wheel's "Ferment" album is one of the best, period.

Interesting trivia note is that Catherine Wheel's lead singer Robert Dickinson is the cousin of Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson.

Ah, Yes. One of the first concerts I went to at the Hollywood Sportatorium in Pembroke Pines FL. June of 1979. I remember it like it was yesterday, mostly, part of it is a fog of smoke.
