Hey guys I'm not a mechanic and I just work on my car as a hobby, I've been having a hard time taking these bolts out since the nuts/fasteners inside the subframe broke off because of rust. Whenever I try to remove the bolts it just keeps on spinning. Does anyone encountered the same issue as me? I tried wedging a flathead and pry bar in there just to stop the nut from spinning but it still doesnt work. Also do I need another subframe since the faster/nut broke off. I just dont have an idea on how I will be able to weld back these nuts inside the subframe. Attached are the pics and diagram of the subframe and I'm having an issue with bolt #6 and nut #7

I see this is a few days old so you may have solved this already, but:
The nuts don't weld in, they clip in. I had the same issue recently. I had to drill 3 or 4 of them. You'll need decent quality split point bits (at least for the first hole). Start small, around 3/16"/4mm drill about 1/2"/13mm deep, then step it up a few times until the head eventually pops off. Drilling UP under a car? Wear safety glasses, or better, goggles. |
