M3 Replica Bumper Taboo?
It seems the M3 replica front bumpers are so easy to get your hands on these days and the M Sport front bumpers are more expensive and less available. Even the used and scuffed OEM bumpers are listed at $700 USD firm.
I'd rather not spend a whole lot of money on something that I can get for cheaper which will also look good, if not, more aggressive. I have a 2007 335i with the M Sport rear bumper, LCI trunk, LCI M Sport steering wheel with Pre-LCI paddles, LCI Sport Seats, and a CIC retrofit with CarPlay. My front end is lacking a little bit and I don't want to get an F Series glossy grill until I have gotten a more aggressive bumper. I passed up on a $150 M3 replica bumper in my color on Facebook marketplace but now I regret it as that's the cheapest as I could have gotten a bumper upgrade for. I'm as much of an OEM+ guy as the next person but is it really still that looked down upon if I have just an M3 replica front bumper? Like I said I have the 335i M-Sport rear bumper with the BMW 335i performance rear diffuser, but I can't help but feel like the M3 replica bumper may be the way to go. |

I don't care for M3 Rep bumpers, while you're at it why not put badges and vents on the fenders? If you need to replace or upgrade I like the M Sport route and remember the M Sport side skirts.

Okay I get it 😂
I quite like the 335i performance side skirts, but I think the front bumper will be first. Like I said I'm an OEM+ guy but things like an M3 steering wheel isn't taboo. Nor are M3 control arms. It can be argued these are performance oriented parts versus bumpers are only cosmetic, but what about the M3 style trunk spoiler? Is that considered taboo too? I think the high kick M4 spoiler looks out of place but I think the M3 style spoiler is a nice touch to the regular 3 series trunk. |

M3 rep bumper is by far the best looking bumper for pre-LCI. The whole front end of an M3 is different so IMO go for it. It doesnt look like you're trying to be an M3, it's just a better looking bumper for it.
Go for it! |

I like the side skirts and mirrors for our cars. But everything else needs the wider m3 fenders to make them work like the bumpers, hood and fenders. My opinion
shit now I'm questioning my side skirts lol, the m3 reps don't fit right maybe just put the msport back on...

I say go for the replicas if you've done your research. My brother did that for his 320i and it turned out great. With the money he saved, he was able to buy new rims. To each their own, but sometimes I find replica parts match or are even better than OEM

M tech front bumper looks better on a 335 than the m3 front bumper - the m3 bumper just doesn't look good with 335 fenders and hood but that's just my opinion. If you like it and it's in the budget go for it.

My personal take, I think there's a distinction to be made between those who put an m3 part on their car here or there for whatever reasons, and those who actively spam m3 parts, badging or livery to try and fool people into thinking they're rocking a higher trim. An M3 front bumper for the sake of updating the front bumper with something more aggressive falls into the first category
That being said, I also think that the M3 front bumper is too loud to rock on it's own but that's purely my opinion

$300 for the M3 replica bumper, primed, including fog lights
$425 (i paid too much) for getting it painted Space Gray $200ish, going from memory, both OE M3 ducts $4, nylon spacers to offset the msport front wheel liners =$929 finished I elected to delete the fog lights and install real M3 ducts. I had to trim them to fit my 2011 335d. Before picture attached as well. I had to adapt a little to get belly pan to properly fasten to the lower edge of M3 replica. I came out with something that looks OE in my book. Last 2 pictures show the belly pan to bumper fastening. Picture taken before the bumper was removed and painted. I did all the fit up and install work but planned ahead with checking and adjusting fitment before shop painted it for me. Last edited by BB_cuda; 05-03-2022 at 02:56 PM.. |

My old pre LCI with the M3 rep bumper. I think it looked badass and not like an M3 copycat at all. For LCI cars, the M sport bumper looks better IMO.
