Gave mine a clean and a "polish" ...i say polish but really just one towel to dry then second towel to properly dry so to speak. may get myself a proper detail for father's day. Anyway, tried one of those black trim rejuvenation products, it REALLY lifted the look. I did all the trim around the doors but also the large swathes under the wipers and especially in the bottom of the grille. After 13 years these areas needed a refresh and the "wet look" product seems to work as advertised so far.
Photo taken on a heavily clouded day, the colour is odd as it shift to a middle blue aqua on bright days then a dark blue with a more purple hue in the shade. I guess that's why it is called Aqua Blue Metallic. Seriously reconsidering adding black wheels, I dunno, feel they may get lost in this blue unless BRIGHT sunny day. |

I'm the same way. Want many things, but when it comes time to actually doing it, I get into "is it really worth $X?"
For example, The C8Z is a lot of money. I'm going through with it, but worst case I don't love it as much as I think I will and I would likely be able to sell it for profit anyway. P-cars seem to hold their value well. I don't think you can go wrong. I would only buy a turbo P-car. That's just me |

Cars are meant to be driven. Get a car you love to drive. I'm there.

It's really damn near a carbon copy of a 430i. While there are some small differences, in the bigger picture it's more like they took a 430i and just made a carbon copy. Steering is better than BMW...but then again, what isn't these days? The rear hatch is massively useful. I won't buy another car for daily without one. Reading the Stinger boards, the 3.3 makes good power, it's right up there with BMW and Audi. It can make a lot more power with mods, just like those other two. It's definitely the way to go if you want max fun with it. My criteria was: hatch, AWD, ACC cruise, enough space, heated wheel and seats. I put 255s all around on it on Enkei wheels, stiffer swaybars, side skirts and small lip spoiler, in addition to the normal paint protection and tint.

Plenty of power is there in the 3.3T, delivery is nice and linear without any significant humps. Handling is predictable (RWD), fit and finish and appointments are nice inside and out. The car does everything well above average - though brakes do chatter a bit and that awful Hyundai leftover infotainment.. Again the car is fully competent, but nothing is top of its class. When I shopped it, I considered the M340 for about 10 minutes, but similarly equipped it was at least a $12K difference. Once I discovered the M240 earlier this year and for similar $ to the G70, I knew it was time to move on.

Please don't paint those wheels black. It will cheapen the vehicle immediately. The silver wheels are much, much classier looking.

I concur. Black just doesn’t allow for any contrast in my opinion.

Here's one of the car detailed and polished properly in better light. I also got a gundo hack so she sounds mean as without being obnoxious. |

One final thing I forgot to add for those of you who may be considering a sports car purchase and have a family. The 2+2 really is a proper game changer, the mrs was against the idea of the purchase but let me go do my thing but has enjoyed the family days out with the two boys either for a putter around or a belt through the semi rural areas. A few weeks back we did a full day touring in escarpment country, lots of hot cars around and it was a good family day with picnic and hike included. TBH though, the drop top also adds a lot, it's one thing to drive enthusiastically through colourful back roads at moderate speeds with a coupe, and another altogether with the top down. The top down also reduces the claustro feel of a small car for rear passengers.

Better sometimes on black but still very good on blue. Also a big fan of white on blue, maybe more than gold. This rims would look smoking, white… chalk maybe. That’s what my lyin eyes tell me. |

Congrats after two years, getting the car of your dreams! It looks beautiful, and yes, keep those wheels silver.
The 997 market - especially the .2 cars, is really strong. Ridiculous even. But you only live once, am I right? When I was dating my now-wife, her youngest was around 7 or 8 when I took him for a ride in my 996 cabriolet. The first time he had ever ridden in a convertible, and he just loved it. We get back to his mom's house and he asked me: "Michael, when you're too old to drive, can I have this car?" I laughed and said sure. Later the wife tells me that one night, out of the blue, he asked her "how old is Michael?". She told him, and then he had to explain why he cared. Counting the days... He got really P.O.'d at me when I sold it. "But you promised!" Now he's 25 and understands that he couldn't afford to maintain it, but I think he still holds a grudge. Every boy should own a 911 at some point, even if we have to wait for our 40s to do it. BTW, during the pandemic, I was in a similar spot (wanting a spare car) and bought the Ford Mustang GT with the correct number of pedals (3). I got it when the market cratered, so a heck of a deal (new) and I did well when I sold it a year later. Bang for the buck, it's one of the best deals out there. But it's still a cheap Ford, and anyone who's owned a fine European automobile will be disappointed in the long run.

Ha! Great story. My 11 year old says, for now, he wants my saab wagon because that was the car that brought him home from hospital. Now he wants to paint correct, throw wheels and a wrap at it but ... yeah.
I was very close to going with the GT because it would mean I could DD it and could deal with 2 cars, not 3. It was just too big tbh, that was the biggest issue. |
