WANTED: CLEAR FRONT BLINKERS
How can I get the Clear blinkers for the new E90? (front) All the european versions have it. I think they have the clear back as well for the top red piece in the upper corners. But i read elsewhere that you have to replace the whole head light part which will run an estimated $2400. Is this true or will they offer just the cover replacement in the future? In my opinion, I feel that the yellow makes the car less aggressive/sporty. Can't wait to pick up my E90 on Weds! Any input will help. thanks! |

Yep, you have to change the whole headlight assembly in North America to get the White indicators like they have in Europe.
Wait a few months, and they will find a way through aftermarket to modify these. Currently, even if you wanted the clear headlamps, you can't order them through a US dealer due to DOT regulations. Now, you can have someone in Europe buy them for you and send it, but its probably almost 6K for both Xenon/Adaptive assemblies with shipping. That's a lot for the look. I am holding out till they make some mod you can put over the lights. Its definitely integrated into the lamp and you can't get it out. I was hoping someone could get their hands on the service manual which shows how the lights come apart. |

I asked my dealer the other day about having to change the light "bend" for US specifications..He said its no big deal at all, that the lights can be made to be "flat beam" just by turning the adjustment wheel behind the light like the E46's had...He can do it for no charge....
In fact, he already showed me on my X how easy it could be done..Im leaving mine in Euro specs until I ship it back to the US... So the 1100 bucks a piece will get you Adaptive/Xenon OEM full clears for the E90..theyve got bucketloads in stock here, so If anyone wants a pair, just give me a shout... |

You could could always get eye brows to cover up some of the yellow. Spending $2400 to get rid of a little bit of yellow is just retarded unless yur filthy rich. I'm gonna wait on that one

Now back to the clear front blinkers... or not.. Becuase I noticed something the other day. My taillights with the amber indicator has a 'DOT' marking on it. Doesn't this mean that it's DOT certified and legal to use in the US? Why then does BMW use red indicators on the rear??

you can open up the plastic front lens ( i beleive must be baked) and click off the amber reflector/lens, you will be left with an empty space, but hell put a bulb in there and u have a clear corner..
itll look something like this... Clear yes... But looks empty...

there e46 yes. but i posted that to show u how our lights would look like with out the lens in there.. If u look at the light housing closely, you can see the amber lens is held by little clips. and so is the clear plastic lens from the entire housing. All clips. There HAS to be a way to take off those whole headlight housing lens off. Kinda like the E46, they were just clipped.. i wish i had a spare headlight housing to play with lol
