DAB Radio
Anyone else got the DAB radio option?
Mine wasn't picking up a signal until it had a reset today by the dealer. Radio 5 live never sounded so good on the move...instead of the AM pop crack & whistles...long wait before the next English test match ! Plus Planet Rawk & Radio 6 If you don't have it does it still come up on the radio menu?

I dont see any mention of DAB on mine. Radio CD CD6 & Aux on my radio.
One thing I did notice though is that the radio in the E92 scans my WMA CDs much faster than the old E90, about 1-2 seconds versus aboud 5-10 on the old car. Oh and unrelated, but have you noticed how the redline on the revs is movable depending on the condition of the car?

As far as i can see how its made of backlit red plastic so there is no way the redline it can move...Petrol engined cars might be different.

Blows f.m. away !
I've got it and its superb. It you click on the details option it gives you text of weather ,road reports what music is on etc.
Sound is terrific only downside is some areas don't have a signal for certain channels....and in my instruction booklet you can activate a function that automaticaly switches to fm,when car is out of range of the dab channel your listning to.but my car doesn't have this. My dealer is trying to sort the problem out. |

I've also got the DAB combined with logic 7 and the result is first class. Didn't get a DAB manual though so need to get this sorted so I can read up on what it can do. For example, I didn't know about the weather or traffic option.
Whilst I'm waiting for the booklet to arrive are there any other functions I should be aware of. Alternatively, is there a pdf of the manual around? Thanks |

So if you have the DAB radio option, does it also include FM & AM radio?
I'll hopefully get my car in the next week, and have ordered the DAB option. |

Hi
I have the DAB option on mine but as I also have the SatNav Pro its all built into the idrive.....I wanted it because I listed to BBC7 a lot, but I must say that reception is very hit and miss where I live. The problem is with digital is that it copes very well, until the signal either breaks up of completely disappears. When the car was delivered I couldn't get anything on the DAB until I went through the iDrive and found an option to reset it and to scan for available transmitters and then selected the main BBC one to use. I also have FM and AM radios. I need to check into the option to switch to FM when the signal disappears as I don't think that is working on mine...... Must say the USB port is one of the best things I spec'd (apart from the adaptive headlights and dipping mirrors). Though not all USB sticks work with it. Bought a really nice 8Gb one and it wouldn't work properly. Some of my 4Gb ones gets corrupted or crashes the whole iDrive system.....would be nice to have an approved list to chose from.... Sean |

You need to buy the unit from ebay really and then get an Autologic garage (autologic is diagnotsic and coding kit) who has the most bus dongle to programme it for you.
As long as your car has most bust fitted you can fit it. |

I took a crafty look on my own copy of the dealer TIS system and on that it says its plug and play and doesn't need coding on anything newer than Sept 07. I took the boot floor up as discribed in TIS and the place for the DAB tuner is there (mount holes etc) but no cable (CD auto changer cable is though) If someone who has it can take out the boot floor the system is there and you can see where the cable goes easily. |

How did someone get their hand stuck in a pyramid with a spike going thru it?Seems like a dangerous job to me. Glad I spec'd DAB at order time.

Yeah, I have a pic from my previous car of the installation position & cabling:
(don't know how to post it!) But in my new car (no DAB - bought from stock ) I cant see the requisite cabling in place to just plug & play. Shame, because I just bought a DAB unit to install! Anyone knows exactly what is involved, or is willing to guess, I would be more than happy to try out a few experiments to try & get it working. |
