Iam into cars but have never gotten my hands dirty. Lookin for my first car, iam 16.

How should I inspect the vehicle any tips?

Iam willing to get my hands dirty, but am scared if something goes wrong then how do I know what went wrong.

Looks good to me but I’d scrutinize the actual service history. Think about what might be due and $ cost. And if you’re willing to DIY or not.

If you’re 16, check what insurance will cost you.

Looks to be a 323i? It’s a fairly reliable engine.

Worth paying a bmw specialist do a mechanical inspection, carfax for collision history (a collision isn’t the end of the world, but know what you’re getting into) and make sure they do your safety inspection before buying.

Canada has a 323i, basically a 328i engine with a shorter stroke volume, so a bit slower and better on gas but still good imo.

So do I watch 328i videos on this car because it’s hard to find 323i, this is still a n52?

The first one has a new engine? I'd be interested in hearing that story and those Style 437's will never work because of the offsets and are too large for the engine. The seats are not Sport seats but I like the color combination. I wouldn't touch the riced out second car, it's likely been beat on and not maintained.

What’s so special about sports seats in this case ? The sport package?

"Its a V6". That should tell you all you need to know

Looks like you are in or near the GTA. Lots of good BMW indy garages there.
Talk to a mechanic there or close to you
Join BMWCCA and "your" chapter will be Trillium. There will be 200-300 members at least in this Toronto based club who would be VERY helpful in your search. I think I see join up for a driving school & your membership is free. https://trilliumbmwclub.ca/

I've bought 4 older BMWs in USA, 1 in Germany and have NEVER had a serious or expensive breakdown.

Support and I'd imagine driving for long periods of time would not be too comfortable either.

Yes, almost everything is just like a 328i except some engine internals you probably won’t ever touch yourself.

Even on parts seller websites, I type in “bmw 328i” because a lot of sites don’t have 323i build into them.

One nice thing about these Canadian cars is that heated seats are standard (lots of US import cars in Canada that don’t have it standard)

I'd recommend staying away from modded cars like the second one. The best cars are built by BMW, not by some rando in a garage. Maybe it was done wonderfully and is better than new, but better than naught it's going to be a mess. Plus whoever did the mods might think they're all Fast and Furious and drive it terribly.

Look for documented service history... don't worry so much about higher mileage if it has proper records showing it was well cared for at a BMW dealer or Euro independent garage. Stay away from cars with few records or randomly maintained at cheap oil change shops. My go-to is to look for quality tires (Michelin, Conti, Perilli). If seller bought good tires, they probably took care of the rest of the car as well.

Mature or elderly first or second owners are best. Avoid cars that have had five or more owners. Two owners is the sweet spot: first leased it, second bought it CPO from dealer. You would be the third.

E90s are a joy to work on but really need a lot of DIY work from someone that cars about them. Learn the programming tools available and you will REALLY be able to save $$$ and have a reliable car!

Good luck and be patient!

Not just any V6—a V6 BMW C320i

OP: What I look for in a seller is someone who is willing to acknowledge the good and the bad. Seldom does a 15-year-old car “need nothing.” Service records and transparency are always nice to have.
