06 330i alternator fuse after short circuit
Is there an alternator fuse? if so, where is it? Yesterday tightening the alternator's positive cable made a short circuit when accidentally the wrench made contact with the chassis. The car started fine and I drove it for about 15 minutes until the battery died. Today I charged it with cables for about 15 minutes, then removed cables and it started up fine and stayed on for several minutes. I removed the alternator and had it checked and they said that everything is fine, that surely the fuse has blown.
Where is that fuse located. I know there is a 100 amp fuse (F102) in the trunk on top of the battery, but only for models 2008 and after. Mine is 2006. |

I'm pretty sure the main alternator cable gets it's power directly from the starter, so if the car starts, the fuse is good.
Is there battery voltage at the alternator main cable? |

I think it was indeed the battery. The short circuit killed it.
I tried with another battery and the car starts and holds up well. When measuring with the tester and with the accessories (a/c, lights, music and fog lights) it kept throwing 14 volts. It was a Deka and was almost 6 years old. Very satisfied with it. |
