Plugs on e90 auto transmission
Hi all.
Could someone please tell me is this the auto transmission fill plug on the 325i e90 auto transmission? (plug on left) Also is the black plug on the right a plug something else? |

It’s neither. It’s the silver plug just to the left of the mechatronics sleeve (left red box). The right box is a blind plug for the non-existent dipstick. You could fill it there; however the TIS procedure is at the soft crappy bolt.

Thanks mate. My mechanic told me I have a possible leak and Im trying to determine the leak points. Oil cooling lines, mechatronics sleeve, drive shaft seal, rear main seal, top up and drain plugs, auto transmission pan seal. Did I miss any?

A leak is likely at the round case sleeve (the one on the left).
I fill ATF through the plug on the right as well sometimes. Dump the whole amount drained (4-6 qts depending on if the filter was changed on '07) plus 8-10 oz more. Then was able to set the level fairly quickly by removing the check plug. |
