Passport BMW in Maryland (Greg Parker)
I took delivery of my Monaco Blue 330i yesterday (5/31/06).
it was a very nice experience. Greg went to the metro station to pick me up. when we got to the dealer, he had all the paperwork ready. Finance guy took 10 minutes to get rid of me. (I was glad) Then Greg was waiting for me and handed me the first keyfob. he went thru the manual and other bmw books. He also gave me a tour of the dealer showing me the parts dept. and the service dept. after that, we went outside and there it was. Love at first sight. There was one of the detail guys next to the car and I was asked to go around the car looking for anything I did not like. detail guy behind me and cleaning where I saw something. Once I was ok. detail guy dissapeared. then we looked at the engine. next at the trunk. he showed me where the tool kit was and how to get to the battery. Next, we got in and he went over the main features. Finally, a hand shake, a couple of pictures, and that was it. I got free mats, valve caps, full tank of gas, and key rings.

Frank: Congratulations!!!! Did you ask the detail guy not to apply the dealer decal...I had them removed upon delivery as it was on there despite instructions.
Sorry but: Can't wait to see your car in person at our group install meet P.S. how'd the tinting go? Depending on your review, thinking of doing it this weekend or something.

Unfortunately, the same happen to me. I emailed asking for no decals and there they are. one on the back and one behind the rear view mirrow. Oh well, I'll have to do that myself. The tint... Mmmm... not too happy with it. here are my reasons: 1) location. this place is in Georgia ave. and in a not too pleasant area. 2) bubbles. I have bubbles. one is big. all others are for the nit picky to find. 3) messy. the guy did not do a good job trying to clean the interior. he did nothing to try to clean the exterior. so there I was with a brand new bimmer with water drops all going down from the windows to the bottom of the doors. got home and spent some time cleaning the mess. Based on that, I do not recommend that place. go somewhere else.

Frank, best you get those decals off quick, my CA mentioned the longer they're on the harder it is for them to come off. In my case, they had just applied the decals on so they came right off (CA used his hands to peel them off). Behind the rearview mirror? That's a new location of decals...
Sorry to hear about your tinting ordeal. Also thanks for the heads up. I actually contacted a place in woodbridge who uses 3M Color Stable (non-metallic) who'll do it for $289...it's a little more than the $170 BKsBimmer's place charges but thats for quality 3M non-metallic tints and is way cheaper than HuberOptiks or Pinnacles. Let me know if you want the contact info.

Also the rims... oh, I drove the car about 25 miles yesterday. when I got home, the 162s were filthy. So, there I was cleaning them yesterday. hehe... I heard about rain today so the bimmer stayed indoors today. still driving the old car today.

Frank: You're gonna see lots of brake dust (well more than usual) while the brakes are being bedded in / broken in....so get used to it, my friend

Mmm... good excuse to leave early from work. I'll send you a pic of the decal behind the rear view mirrow. hard to see. I did not see it until I got home and was showing the car to the wife. we were in front of it and she noticed the clown nose and that's when I saw it. very clever. about the tint, send me the info. At this point, I'm not sure if I want to go back there and ask them to re-do it or just go somewhere else. Thanks.

Frank: Wow that's a new one, I actually checked my rear view mirror and there was none. Its quite subtle, not too bad as far as decals go.
kobechrome: we missed you at our last meet, but we're planning/talking about another passport bmw-dc metro meet in the coming months. Will keep you updated 300b: hope you can make our next one

I believe I will pull the trigger on a new 330i soon. With Jim Redden gone, is there a recommended sales associate at Passport now? I intend to send e-mails asking for pricing from Passport, VOB, and Fairfax BMW. I test drove at Fairfax, so I'll send the e-mail to the salesman I spoke with there. At Passport and VOB, is it better to just send the e-mail to the Internet sales dept on the website or to send directly to a particular sales associate (assuming you guys recommend one)?

BK: You can also try Peter Brizan (Internet Sales Department), he was introduced to me as Jim Redden's replacement. Knowledgeable and pleasant guy to deal...easy $500 over invoice deals on e90s.

I'll be buying this month. I plan to test a couple more cars and I need to try a 330i with a manual transmission before making a decision. However, I suspect the 330i is where I'll end up, particularly if he can give me a $500 over invoice deal. |
