New n54 injectors are "wet" in package
Hope someone who bought new injectors in the past can chime in.
I just received my order of 3 new injectors, and they are covered in some oily residue. doesn't smell like fuel, more like some solvent (?) The seller is a dealership in NE that has online sales operation. Did I get something shady remanufactured instead of new? |

Post some pics to show the numbers on the side but my guess is they come with some lube for the inner seals or to protect the surface. If you bought from an actual BMW dealership I can't imagine you got scammed unless someone sent in some crappy ones for a 'return' and it wasn't caught.

Usually companies will spray bare metal parts with Cosmoline to protect it from corrosion during shipping or sitting in a musty warehouse for long periods of time. Just clean it with some brake cleaner and it'll be fine.

Do the numbers on the front or back have anything to do with the production date? Last edited by invariant; 12-04-2023 at 11:15 AM.. |

Agree with the guess on the numbers and their correlation to the date. I'll try to look at mine tomorrow and see if that matches up to the time they were installed.
I was mainly interested in the pics bc most 'reman' injectors have fishy looking codes/index numbers. Yours look legit. Agreed with the mention of cosmoline too, very common on a lot of bare metal parts. I think you're good to go. |
