30bb 30ba code

I have 2008 bmw 335i and I got it to where there was no codes or CEL and one day I was driving and I got thrown into limp mode and it gave me injector codes and the dreaded 30BB code. Luckily I was close enough to get it home with a horrible misfire and started swapping out injectors 4, 5, and 6 with 1,2, and 3 and coded them through INPA. I erased the codes and ran em and the 30BB stayed and the rest went away, I took it to a local German mechanic place and after charging me $100 more than they quoted me they said I needed to replace my DME for $2700. I took my car back and found a company in the Uk named Ecu testing and I sent it out for them to fix it and I got an email back that the DME passed all the tests. Now I don’t know what to do and it’s still misfiring with the 30BB code and every other post talks about the DME. If anyone could help thag would be greatly appreciated.

Try changing the MOSFETS, they're cheap. Could also be a coil, MOSFETS can damage coil and vice versa. Try swapping coils as well. If youre running a tune too try flashing to stock and see if the code persists.

I also swapped the coils from 4,5 and 6 to 1, 2, and 3 and the issue stayed as a 30BB code so I don’t think it’s one of the coils otherwise there would be a different codes after swapping em

Are you running a tune on your car? if you are then flash the stock map and see if the code stays. Theres been lots of cases where unfortunately people running msd80 are getting this code and switching to msd81 fixed it.

Op, sometimes 30bb / 30ba may not be fixed w mosfets. It can be the power supply in the dme causing the code.
This happened to be the case in my 535i, where all mosfets passed continuity. The dme had to be replaced. One cannot blindly conclude it is mosfets w 30bb or sometimes just bank fuel injector codes.

That’s what I was thinking too honestly that’s why I sent the entire DME to get tested and it passed all the test. This company knows exactly about the 30BB code and they also knew my mosfets were fine

Yeah as soon as I got the code I suspected it to be my tune which the old owner had installed and the MHD kept saying my vin had no account linked to it, but it showed stage 2 so I couldn’t take it off. When I took it to the mechanic they took it off and the issue continued. I was thinking of switching to the more upgraded msd81 but since the ECU testing place said it was fine I don’t want to waste a bunch of money, I’m a teenager and money is definitely hard to come by at my age. Thank you for ur response in trying to help me👍

I’m taking it right now back to the mechanic, they said they can diagnose it for free this time because they misdiagnosed it last time. I’ll let you know if I find the problem👍

After taking it to the mechanic they told me word for word, bar for bar, phrase for phrase “I don’t know what to tell you” I just took my car back and the DME cover was left off and it’s pouring in salt lake. so DME definitently has water damage now

Yeah the DME cover was left off and they probably forgot to put it on and then it was raining and when I came to pick it up there was water in my DME connectors and in the pin socket of the DME I dried em out but I think im going to send my DME to another person closer, here in the states to test it with the CAS module, key, and DME

You should absolutely 100% hold that mechanic shop accountable for flooding your DME.

Luckily the DME didn’t have water damage and I sent it to “ECU Pro” and it’s finally fixed. Huge thanks to everyone that helped me in this rabbit hole of what we call bmw diagnosing.

I'm glad that you have it fixed. Time for a title change. 30BB code (not DME) isn't accurate. 30ba and 30bb are ALWAYS dme issue. 100%

Same issue then yours...
My Diag also says ERROR: 29D1 29D2 29D0 29CC (missfire).
But I'm from Brazil, and for sure we have no "ECU PRO" around here.
Does he told you if were only mosfets? Because my ones are already replaced once... and now I checked and so far, no issue detected.

We don’t have the same issue, your entire engine is misfiring those are misfire codes, change the spark plugs, change the coils IT IS NOT YOUR MOSFETS YOUR MOSFETS WILL CAUSE A “30BB” and “30BA” I guarantee it’s not your dme

Hey man, so what was your issue?

I am now struggling with this 30BB code, I already checked continuity in the mosfets and all of them are OK.

My case is weird I never had this issue before, today I just started the car, it ran fine in closed loop for like 15 seconds and suddenly the bank 2 went bananas.

I shut the car off, cleared code, started again and it started fine, I left the car idling for like 10 minutes and no issues. I didn't want to drive with that random issue so that's when I removed the DME and checked the mosfets, after that I put the DME back again and now every time I start the car it goes to limp mode with 30BB.

I already check harnesses and everything looks fine, I am still pending to swap coils but I doubt this would cause cyls 4 5 6 to fail at the same time.

Lol been there done that, my DME was bad and I sent it out to a company to get if coded, your issue however I think is coils, or injectors. Mine wouldn’t let me erase the codes it would start in limp mode, I suggest first swapping coils 4, 5, 6 to 1, 2, 3 and then start it and drive it to see if codes change to bank 1, then u know it’s coils. After change injectors 4, 5, 6 with 1, 2, 3 (they will have to be coded) and see if it changes bank
