When they say it does not work on DI injected engines this is true to a extent, it won't clean the valves, but will still pass through the injectors to clean them, now is it a good idea to use on the special N54 piezo injectors the car has, thats up for debate.

Considering you're quoting a post from 12 years ago it's possible the poster has gone through a few cars since. Also a silly price for those plugs.

Wow. Back from the dead!
Nothing's changed here. Without fuel washing over the valves like in port injected engines, there's no way the techron can get to the valves to clean them. Further, with the incredibly high PSI our fuel is pushed through the injector, it's not really something that could get "clogged" with gunk to be cleaned out. There's also enough detergent in our fuel now (as opposed to 25+ years ago) that will easily keep the rest of the fuel system upstream from the injectors clean. This product is waste of money because of that (in this car) There are multiple techron products, each with varying amounts of active ingredients in them. This thread seems to generally label them all the same. There's a great post on Bob is the Oil Guy that has an explanation on the different products that they sell from a techron rep. The cheap versions at Costco, for example, warrant a closer look at the concentrations of PEA on the label. Last edited by AWD Addict; 01-08-2024 at 10:04 PM.. |
