Should I change transmission oil (185km)
Hi there, just got 328xi 2009. Dont have a history of transmission oil change, I have 185000km on it. What should I do, Should I change oil? Is there any way to figure out if the oil was changed? Thanks!

Do you think I can do it by myself? Or its better to go to the mechanic? Maybe you know a good guide?

not hard to crack the drain and take a Small sample, not sure u know what bad atf smells and look like though. you could have a shop do a drain and oil refill level check and get their opinion or just leave it at a partial fluid renew.

I am a proponent of changing the fluid, even if high mileage. I just changed fluid and filter on my new to me '09, so I walk the walk! Drain fluid, put a new filter and gasket on, seal it up, fill it up! Then do the temperature check. I basically followed the ZF instructions as they were pretty similar to GMs and a little more detailed.

I would change the fluid as well. Those stories about transmission breaking after changing fluid is because the transmission was already at the point of no return IMO.

Yes, change the ATF. A simple drain and fill should be fine. Things get sketchy when you flush high mileage transmissions but even that is debatable.

Yup, I would change the fluid. I had an indy shop do mine at 206,000km. My vehicle is 09 335i, running xHP stage 3 - replaced fluid, filter + pan. Did not flush or reset adaptations, I thought long and hard about reset, did a bunch of reading and decided not to reset, good decision. Car shifting felt better after fresh fluid, now at 210,000km, still nice and smooth.
