CIC Retrofit - KOMBI coding after
I successfully upgraded my CCC system to CIC and coded it, however my service menu is missing two items:
The missing items correspond to the air filter and the spark plug maintenance intervals. Coding the CIC was very easy; I modified the VO in NCSExpert (but did not write the modified VO to CAS or NFRM) by changing the build date to #0909 and adding $6VA. CIC works perfectly except the missing maintenance items. I read in a few spots that KOMBI must be coded afterward. What coding is exactly required, default code KOMBI with the modified VO that I used to code the CIC? After coding are those maintenance items (filter and spark plugs) removed from both Kombi and CIC? |

So I looked and I only have the ones pictured, but no blank spaces. Perhaps BMW dropped cabin filter and spark plugs from the list starting in '09? Those are very high mileage items, who knows.

I swapped out the upgraded CIC to one with a newer firmware, and this time I default coded KOMBI after coding the CIC (with #0909 build date and $6VA temporarily added to the VO.) That fixed the missing service items and cleaned things up.
I did not write the VO to CAS or FRM/NFRM. There's no need to do that; the VO just tells NCSExpert what to use when default coding a module, so temporarily modifying the VO within NCSExpert that was read from CAS is sufficient for NCSExpert to do its thing and write to the retrofitted CIC. The only downside to that is any time I want to code CIC I have to remember to make those changes to the VO othwerise NCSExpert won't see the CIC. |
