I actually think it looks quite fantastic and about damn time for a redesign. Infiniti must have finally had enough from people talking sh!t about the brand the last several years for running the same model across all their offerings for 10+ years. As others have said, I also had a G37 6MT 12 years ago and it is sad to see how far the brand had fallen.

110k for Autograph trim. Under 100 would have really helped, imo.

Third row is actually roomy looking.

It's the size of a small african nation, you'd hope the 3rd row has room.

Holy shit LMAO. This or an X7? Or GLS? Or literally anything else in it's class. At 70-80k this would of been ok, but 110 is just funny.

They might be using the same pricing formula as Maserati.

That's not gonna cut it in this segment. Priced too high and nobody is gonna pay more for an Infiniti than other rivals. Agree that this would have done well at 70-80, that'd put it as a luxury competitor to top tier Tahoe and Expeditions. But reality is, nobody is gonna buy this at a higher price point than the best domestics or their luxury counterparts.

I disagree. At least in my area, Big, Expensive Luxury SUV reign supreme. G Wagons, Escalades, Range Rovers, and even loaded out Jeep Grand Wagoner $100k+) are super common. I can see folks buying this Infiniti easily, just to be different. Especially seeing the unique styling and plush interior. It will sell.

Part of why Infiniti sold as many QX80’s as they have even with an older platform was the pricing. Should not have topped 100k with the new one.

QX80 was a terrible experience for our family
It wasn't outstanding in snow
brand new truck, we took it to Breckenridge, CO, for skiing, and it died; there was some issue with the battery, and it was slipping and sliding all over the road.
Moreover, Bob Moore Infiniti dealership experience was horrible

That's how my area is too. People don't buy QX80 here to be different. They buy it as a cheaper alternative to the better offerings in the class. Nobody thinks "Infiniti" when they're shopping for a large SUV, they think it when they want a rental car.

There's no reason to buy this vs an Escalade or even a Yukon. It needs to be cheaper than them to sell. They should have sold.it topping out at 80 to have a shot.

I've softened on its looks. I don't hate the looks as much. Pricing is a bit high still, but a Luxe (assuming it comes well equipped) would compete pretty well with expedition stealth performance, which has basically the same power output. I'm sure Infiniti will offer incentives and cheap financing to move these, as that's their business model.

I wish they'd stuck with the proven V8 as a standard engine and made their unproven new turbo V6 optional. The early Ecoboost V6s were problematic, and so did the 3.0t Infiniti uses, it's very reasonable to expect there to be some growing pains for this motor.

The real question is going to be the packaging. The previous Armada and QX80 fell apart in the back end. They focused on 3rd row passengers, and so the cargo area was tiny. The seats didn't fold into the floor, and there was t enough space in the back for a big stroller and kids stuff. Our Expedition by contrast, we can (and do) leave the 3rd row down pretty much all the time, and have enough space for our large stroller, diaper bags, snack bags, and anything else we could need.

I haven't priced a Wagoneer or Escalade lately, but unless this was cheaper than those, I'd have a thard time going with QX80. I still REALLY like Escalade with the diesel, and REALLY REALLY like the Carbide package Wagoneer L.

I sense a gap in the market for something roughly half the price, full stow and go, options for captains chairs or benches, built in vacuum, easy to remove third row if you need ALL the storage, holds a full 4x8 piece of plywood in the back and maybe even sliding doors. Would be awesome.

Jokes aside, the luxury barge 7 to 8 seater SUV is the single most useless and unfathomable vehicle on the market unless you're towing a small plant.

My boat tows at around 5500 pounds. Tow ratings are based off an assumption of a 200 pound driver and nothing else.in the vehicle. If i tow my boat I'm probably gonna have the wife, kids, snacks, toys, etc in the car. That easily puts us over 6k pounds with car seats and coolers and stuff. It gets even worse when you start talking about RVs.

If you don't need to tow, a minivan or a Palisade type crossover are options for sure. But if you do... The full size SUV makes all the sense in the world

Another thing often overlooked is when you buy a Tahoe, Yukon, Escalade, expedition, etc... you're buying a truck too. You're buying into an ecosystem where you're always gonna be able to find the parts you need because every work truck uses them. You won't have to find a specialist mechanic because they're the same underneath as a work truck. You're buying a vehicle engineered to last a million miles, with cheap replacement parts and a value as long as it runs and can pull a work trailer. If you look at something like a Ford Flex, it had all the space of a full size suv, but didn't have the towing and robustness. Prices for those used are WAY WAY WAY lower than a fullsize SUV would be because they serve a role that the Flex or any other people mover crossover or minivan can't .

But, to each their own. I don't understand why people buy underpowered convertibles and say they're sports cars. But there's no shortage of people buying Miata and whatever.

Honestly, no it isn't to me. It's a roadster. It's meant to mimic a sports car, but at slower speeds. That's not necessarily a bad thing, carsike that are a lot of fun without a lot of risk. But they're not sports cars to me.

I often tow our orchids with our Expedition, towed our Tomato's with my Trailblazer SS. Thought about towing our Hydrangeas, but think that may be best left to a 2500 diesel or a full semi truck

The Hibiscus? Forget it.

All about perspective, as someone who likes small cars this QX80 isn’t for you, it clearly has a market as Infiniti sells these at a good clip.

Is a Miata worth 40k new? Absolutely not, it’s overpriced for a car, it’s cramped and serves very limited functionality other then being a fun weekend toy.

Not hating on the Miata as I’ve owned one and now have a Z4, but we have no legs to stand on when saying a large SUV is overpriced or a waste of space…..the Goldilocks car size is sedanish and not of either end of size spectrum but that would be a boring world.
