E91 Sunroof leak repair
Hello all!
Thought I’d welcome myself to the forum. Another member of the forum, colorado.e9x asked me to join(thank you) and I thought I’d share a helpful repair that’s DIY for the e91 platform and probably the rest as well. The drain tubes at the top of my sunroof leading down had MAJOR holes on it when I bought the vehicle leaving the front A pillars drenched. I decided to remove the interior and clean while I was there repairing - anyways - what you will need is the following items: (harbor freight supplied all materials) 1. 3/4th diameter marine shrink wrap tubing @ 3 1/2 inches long 2. Liquid electrical tape A. I pulled the tubing out of the actual sunroof hole B. Made a cut short enough so that it had enough room to adhere C. Put liquid electrical tape on the outside of the shrink wrap D. put over both ends C. Shrink the tubing with hair dryer E. Apply coats of liquid electrical tape on both ends (10 minutes inbetween, I did 3 coats around) F. Test I then tested with a water hose for 10 minutes. No leakage whatsoever. Reassemble. Anyways, this is a cheap DIY repair that saved my butt here in the spring months in Michigan. I will - however - be routing new hoses. Anyways, thank you all! Should of joined this forum years and years ago. I have a lot of knowledge on this platform that I’d love to share with you all |
