Hi, I’m aware this might not be the best place to ask but I’ve recently started taking an interest in fixing up scratches and in general the paint on my cars myself.

Question is would I need to add paint to these stretches? Yes, my finger nails catch on them. Some get stuck and others I’d barely notice my finger nail catching. (Not worried about messing up, it’s a project car that I’m willing to make mistakes and learn on)

Thank you.

Those are pretty serious but I'd try a wool pad and heavy compound first.

Some of the scratches that catch are pretty long, what would be the best way to blend them in to make it less noticeable? Sorry for the noob questions

First compound with DA, polish....wipe with paint prep, then Dr. Colorchip.
That will fade everything and make that fender rash not so noticeable.

You can try sanding with 2000 on the rough areas if you are brave....but that burn through is a real bitch slap

If you go to town be careful on the plastic bits, plastic heats up fairly quick and you will burn it

It's like an art: either fill the valley to blend it in or overfill and blend it down to oe paint level. although temporary had some luck with colored waxes

Got it, that makes sense. Would filling it be safer than overfilling it? I’m assuming since it’s my first time I would probably due to lack of skill take off more paint than I need to.

Really appreciate it, def not using 2000 I’d 100% be taking off more than I need to lol.

Imo, polish the area first, use needles (or dr color chips demo/method), and slowly try to build up the paint and Dr. Color Chip solution to level it out, then apply a ceramic coat after.

could try the colored waxes if you dont minds regular waxing
