That sounds extremely reasonable compared to what it would have cost in the homes we've owned in the SF Bay Area, New England, and now in SW Ohio.

I thought so too, especially if it allows me to defer a remodel for a while. Appliances are ok and cabinets look dated but still functioning well. This was the only thing pushing me into thinking of a remodel now.

Curious on how they will do this, I've wanted to do my garage floor forever (DIY), but it's pretty uneven/ cracked and although yours is much better it's not perfect either. I'm assuming they'll pour self leveling concrete and do the epoxy once it dries?

For my floor they grinded off about 1/32 of an inch across the whole garage. They filled in the divots and the cracks with some material (hydraulic cement?). Then they coated the whole floor with a primer, broadcasted the flakes over that, then followed with the epoxy clearcoat. I did have some sizable areas at the front lip of my garage floor where chunks were missing. They rebuilt the lip with material and it looks incredible.

You would have to see what your local garage floor folks are willing to do.

Little kitchen update and dry bar! A lot of work still left - backsplash, floating shelves, then eventually refacing the cabinets in the kitchen. I have a couple before shots in there of when we were brainstorming as well. We also redid the floors and painted. It’s coming along!

Looks great. I did epoxy in the garage in my previous house. I loved it. Did they by chance put sand in it? The epoxy gets very slippery when wet. Not sure if it was actual sand but something to get some traction.

We moved into our downtown condo this past summer and began doing some remodeling.

Here's a quick before and after of the garage:

I will probably swap out the old florescent light for something LED and add a few more cabinets for storage.

We have a lot more planned. Gutting and remodeling 3 bathrooms, full remodel of the kitchen and bathroom conversion to a pantry, custom closet, all new hardwood, new windows, etc.

Thanks! It technically isn't epoxy. I think they call it poly-aspartic or something. The workers lay down primer on top of the cement, then broad cast all the colored flakes, finishing up with a clearcoat over the flakes. You can feel the texture from the flakes through the clear which gives it some traction. When it gets wet it's a little slippery but not too bad. Then the step into the house they add some grit. Next up is keeping it clean during the winter months here in MN.

Here are a couple recent pics. After our flooring was done we got our cabinets all situated. Prior to the NFL season I did add a couple new TV's in my corner TV nook. It has turned into the neighborhood fantasy football command center.

Last week we had an electrician install a 220 circuit and hang a DynaGlo 7500 watt electric heater. The thing works great!

Looks great after modifications.

What flooring finish is that?

Finally wrapping up a Kitchen Remodel that included replacing the Family Room cabinets to match and replacing an old desk with a beverage bar.

The kitchen has refaced cabinets and new quartzite countertops and an induction cooktop. The beverage bar has matching quartzite counters and I was able to add a sink which made installing a water filter and plumbing the espresso machine possible.

The family room now has larger cabinets for the AV components and cooling fans and screen doors for airflow. The amplifiers are in a cabinet in the crawlspace below the family room.

The floors were refinished and we can replace the area rugs, runners and door mats. We are still waiting on the cabinet maker to put crown molding on the beverage bar cabinets, add some trim and replace a few doors that were either the wrong size or slightly warped.

It came out great.

Have you had an induction cooktop before? If not, you are in for a treat. If so, you already know you made a good choice.

No, induction is new to us. There is a learning curve we are still working on. Wow, does it boil water fast! Fortunately we already owned some stainless cookware and cast iron but still had to buy some more and retire cookware that wasn't compatible.

Thanks.

Yes, there is a learning curve. Once you have new compatible pans and get the hang of it, induction is fantastic. In addition to great heat control, wicked-fast boiling, and easy to clean top, there are a couple of other things we found. 1) The kitchen walls, ceiling, and cabinets remain cleaner than with a gas cooktop, and 2) You can use it as a countertop when not cooking on it. You'd be surprised how handy this can be if you decide to try it.

Anyway, your remodel is fantastic. Best of luck with adjusting to induction cooking.

My wife is obsessively careful with her cooktop and gets upset whenever anyone uses it as a countertop and since it is always a nice clear space, anyone not aware of her concern puts stuff on it; contractors and their tools and guests with the dishes they bring over are two common examples.

I don't know how susceptible the ceramic is to scratching but the stainless edge looks like it can scratch easily. Thanks.

It sounds like it's best if you follow your wife's wishes.

Just recently remodeled our Kitchen and two Bathrooms and did them as a single project. Kitchen and Full Bath done first followed by Master Bath.
Kitchen project consisted of removing a small closet and small walk in Pantry. Used all Kraftmaid Cabinets. Added 36" and 24" Pantry's with pull out drawers. Units came with 4 drawers each and I added an additional drawer to both. All other base units are drawer units and wall units are ceiling height. Cambria Quartz countertops, Blanco Silgranit Sink, MSI XL Cyrus Vinyl plank flooring. All new LG appliances. Contractor did turnkey and we were completed about 90% in 4 weeks, had to wait about a week for the countertops. Main Bath was completed in about a week and a half. Master Bath completed in about two and a half weeks. I did all design and spec work. Our contractor was rather surprised when he came in to do estimates and all the design work was finished. He actually only changed one cabinet in my spec which made everything work perfectly.

Master Bath consisted of new tub, tile surround, sink base, toilet topper and floor. Again Kraftmaid Cabinets and the same MSI vinyl plank flooring.

Main Bath, again not much different from the Master Bath project, just a bit smaller.
