E92 LCI headlight disassembly (replacing AHL stepper clip)
So, this thing happened... The AHL (adaptive headlights for the uninformed) stepper motor is disconnected from the lens - I can move it left to right without resistance. Apparently not an uncommon thing after hitting a pothole hard or something.
A small white piece came out when I opened the back cover, which looks like the missing link. But I have no idea how to install it back again - I probably need to disassemble something, but what exactly? All the info, including YT videos, deal mainly with ungluing front cover, I didn't find any info on disassembling the internals. Has anyone done that and can share some tips? I'm attaching pics of what I mean, including the way the clip is supposed to be mounted (judging by looking at the other headlight). |

Necro-post just to say that, while I don't have the answer, you do (or might)! As long as the other headlight is functional, just cross-reference it and you'll probably have your answer much quicker than anyone here can help you.
That said, if you found the answer by now (5 or so yrs later) it'd be cool to see it, both to bring closure to the topic and to help for those looking later I'm assuming it was either as you put it in your illustration, or the mirrored orientation? |
