Wanted to check my (crude, developing) understanding of this.

Am I right that

1. All the non-heated 6MT steering wheels are physically interchangeable;

2. Any trim and airbag can swap onto any E9x steering wheel, as long as you bring the trim and airbag together; and

3. The button clusters are all physically interchangeable, regardless of steering wheel or trim?


Asking because I want a new steering wheel for our LCI E90 328i (base steering wheel), and I'm weighing options for getting a new one for it vs. bringing over the one from our pre-LCI E90 M3 and getting a new wheel for that car. Both cars are 6MT and neither car has a heated steering wheel.

Think I answered my own questions. Looks like #1 is correct, and #2 is incorrect because the different styles of airbag (base vs. M-Sport/M3) have different mounting mechanisms. Not sure about #3 but that's now irrelevant for my purposes. If anyone knows otherwise, please LMK.
