Can anyone direct me to where I can buy an adapter for mulf2hi to combox? I bought one from eBay, it didn't fit. All the adapters seem to be shipping from Europe, there has to be some in the US right?

I just went through this process yesterday and it gave me a bit of a heart-attack.
After putting everything back together, I made the VO changes and flashed the CIC and KOMBI to stock. When I got to flashing the MEDIA, it was giving me all sorts of grief. "Unable to communicate" type errors, except with way more letters because German. Turns out, the MOST lights on the combox was not active, and so it didn't see the unit. I tested the plug, and it was getting 12v between the power and ground pin, so that wasn't the issue. After reading many threads on similar issues, someone said they were able to make it work by moving the power pin to #2, rather than 1 (despite not connecting any of the telematics wires). This worked in my case, and I was able to successfully stock code the MEDIA unit. I'm super stoked on this mod. The BT is quick to connect, and the sound is great. And it got rid of the "Amber alert" sound when a call was coming in that the TCU/MULF setup had. I was able to find a 2016 BN2000 unit from an X1 on eBay for about $70 shipped, plus another $20 for the pigtail with the connector. Thanks for all of the info in this thread! |

when you say "default code" the KOMBI, CIC and MEDIA, does this mean that you are assigning the new VOs to all of these modules?
If so, why do we need the UPD01008.bin file. Thanks! |

Vehicle order only defines to the module, what hardware is installed in the car.
Default coding causes a module to revert to factory setting adjusted to what the VO says is present in the car. The bin file merely updates the Bluetooth tables to accept newer devices. Since the bin files are very old, they or the modules do not work well with the most recent devices even when applied. It is only an update issued at the time… like installing an old 2015 map in a gps system. |

Completed the combox retrofit, was way easier than anticipated.
Also very cheap, went to a junkyard. iirc I paid 34$ cad. However, I have 1 issue that really bugs me since the retrofit. - The next / previous track steering button dont always register the right way ! I.e. ; if I click next, sometimes it register 'previous' so the song restart. I did NOT had this issue previously , same phone. Only difference my phone was streaming via AUX, now it stream via a2dp on the new combox. (the next/previous button on the headunit work flawlessly, at least I can use this one) Any fix? (ignore the white wire, it's the sub/amp I removed to access the compartment) |

I've updated to UPD01008 and nothing changed . (need to change the car date prior to 2024 to the USB stick can read !)
I also tried the Bluetooth AVRCP older version on my phone . The skip track button on the steering wheel still acting up. What I dont get ; - the combox send the request to the cell phone to skip track - On the headunit, the request is fine BUT on the steering wheel it's not... Wondering if it's not simply the steering wheel button resistance. I might get a x1 steering wheel face plate with button. Before that Ill try to reset the cic and combox to factory via NCS. |

But in my case is very unpredictable. Sometimes it register the right way some time not. I really think this is the button resistance that the combox don't recognize. Thus the reason why on the headunit it register correctly. (headunit and combox are from the same X1) |
