E90 325iA engine codes and AC not working after VC replacement
Hi,
Replaced valve cover gasket and broke CCV breather hose behind the VC. I taped it up as best as I could till I get the new part in couple of days. It felt very flimsy also on the intake manifold side. Not sure if it broke from there as well or it’s supposed to be very loose (not coming off, but just very flimsy). When putting it all back together discovered that the Valvetronic motor gasket was much bigger than the original one. Original was just sitting flush with the motor itself, new one was extending over both sides of Valvetronic motor. Ordered correct part that was matching the vin number, but somehow it doesn’t suit. As a quick fix I cut out the middle part of the gasket and installed it to use for time being. First car was hesitant to start, but started and was driving well to my surprise. Slight squealing sound that would indicate possible intake hose leak? Checked for codes and no codes after the first couple drives. Now when started the car later it threw 2A2E and 2A2F codes. Are these codes common after breaking the breather hose and could be caused by that and also insufficient valvetronic motor seal? Thank you for your help! Update 1: I made the temporary connection between VC and broken breather hose much stronger and seemed to solve the issue so far till I can properly replace it.
Another issue seems to be that air con is not blowing cold anymore. Just had the service done to it prior the repairs and there were no leaks. I have a feeling it’s something to do with battery being disconnected. Any ideas? Update 2: Engine is running superb, no codes and runs very smooth with lots of power. Checker AC fuses and they are all good. Noticed a squeaky sound from engine when snowflake is pressed. When turned off the sound goes away. Seems to be something with the ac compressor. Update 3: Went back to the ac shop where they refilled the freon. Said compressor and condenser looks all good. If goes warm again then possibly evaporator. Which is a massive job and I will have to tackle myself cause I don’t want to pay shop to do it. Squeak is gone and it’s cold at the moment, so let’s hope it stays this way 🤞 Last edited by Levenstein420; 01-14-2026 at 08:37 PM.. Reason: Update |
