E92 rear window defroster/demister not working

Hi,

I have noticed my rear window not defrosting on my 2012 E92

I have checked the fuses 47 79, all ok

Researching forums online, they mention about the antenna trap or the wiring to check.

https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/r...-cold.1444716/

Not used a multimeter before so after using YouTube and google, I have power at the positive side (14v) with engine on and demister switched on, checking the tabs on the windscreen. The other side shows 0v, is that supposed to happen?

I’ve tested the antenna traps for continuity and both seem ok.

The wire going from passenger antenna trap to the front of the car (I don’t know where that wire goes to), I have tested this wire for continuity by touching the chassis for ground and the probe in the end of the wire. I get a bleep so I’m thinking that wire is ok aswel. Please correct me if I am wrong.

So I’m thinking all the wiring seems fine, fuses and antenna trap are ok. Must be the windscreen itself.

Having checked the rear windscreen properly I’ve noticed blue lines on both ends of the grid (attached photos).
It look like it’s on most the lines.

Anyone seen anything like this before, is there any other checks I need to do to solve the problem and fix’s you can suggest.

TIA

How is your battery?
The defroster was not working on my e92 when the battery was weak or drained. Even while running. Once I put the new battery, it was back to normal.

Hi,

What are the steps to check my battery, i know it’s location and what values should i expect? (I will search online aswel).

I thought because I was getting 14v at positive side of windscreen the battery would be ok but I’m happy to check it.

I tired putting a wire across the windscreen tabs and turning on the demister but I blew a fuse.

I tried a wire from driver side antenna trap to a bulb and then connecting to chassis but I blew the fuse again (bulb didn’t light up).

I’ve checked my battery and its 12.2v while resting. Drops to 9.5v while cranking and stays at 14.7v
