Help! Fuel pressure issue m47 Crank no start
Hi forum,
First some quick background, fiancee was driving, says the engine started revving on it's own, she managed to stop and cut the engine, left the headlights on, I pushed it home, now it cranks but won't start. Obviously suspect the turbo has died (oil in intake - runaway revving etc) but even removing the turbo from the intake completely, the engine won't fire up - cranks but no start. I have checked the fuel pressure on INPA, rail pressure is at 5 bar only, looks like the low pressure pump is working, getting the fuel to the rail at 5 bar, but for some reason the high pressure pump won't run. Should the car still start with just the low pressure at rail? I seem to think it should, so possibly a different problem - low battery causing immobiliser problems? Also, is there an easy way to test if the HPFP okay? Maybe with software or manually switch on to see if it can generate the 400 bar or so needed. If I'm correct, and the engine should fire with just 5 bar at the rail, what should I look at for the no start issue? Immobiliser? Timing? Too much oil in cylinders from the turbo failure? I haven't any easy start, but did spray another flammable liquid through the air intake and got a tiny fire, for less than a second, does that tell you anything? Many thanks for all your help over the years! |
