Tool32 Help - Resetting Short Circuit Count won't execute
Trying to find out why the left headlamp is not working. The Angel eyes, and side market work. It can be simple burned out xenon bulb, or short circuit counter was exceeded in the FRM module.
The car had weird electrical issues recently due to plugged sunroof drains...fixed now. Car is functioning normal. in Tool32 (running in Windows 10) FRM_70 module had no short circuit counts in any of the lighting. FRM_78 however had the following STAT_FL_LINKS_SHORT_CIRCUIT_COUNTER = 173 STAT_FL_RECHTS_SHORT_CIRCUIT_COUNTER = 86 STAT_AL_RECHTS_SHORT_CIRCUIT_COUNTER = 127 STAT_BEGRL_LINKS_SHORT_CIRCUIT_COUNTER = 127 Not certain if these would cause the left light not to work. But I want to clear. Also, the counts are way higher than I'm reading it should be, something like 50? Screen shot of the 2 codes attached. I select function "_reset_kurzschluss_sperre" and add code for the lamps from the table such as 0x00 or whatever... It returns error in the jobs window "ERROR_ECU_SUBFUNCTION_NOT_SUPPORTED__INVALID_FORM AT" when I follow the same procedure in FRM_70...even though I don't have short circuit counts, it just completes the reset job with "OK". I have another version of TOOL32 in Windows 11...same errors Also, the only code I have related to this is "A8AA: Dipped beam left defective"... |

I would advise you to check the cables inside the headlight just to be sure because they are prone to cracking and shorting out due to heat and age. Also check some youtube how to reset the counter and see if you miss something. GL

Thanks mate, I have checked and angel eye harness was very cracked. I hot glued over bare wire and wrapped in harness fabric tape. The angel eye works. I’m about to replace the main bulb now…but I can’t reset the counter, I’m following the recommended sequence of steps, it i get the error above. I’m thinking it may be the can cable I’m using..which worked fine for a while but maybe damaged.

Well, it was simply a D1S bulb replacement. Both headlamps had cracked angel eye bulb wires, which I patched up.
But, I'm still concerned about the short circuit counts and not being able to reset using tools32 in FRM_78. |
