Typical tire life with -2 degrees of camber up front
Been seeing lots of inner tire wear up front since I added camber plates. I know everyone like to say toe causes wear, not camber, but that's not been my experience. Anyone here with -2 degrees or more camber up front getting decent life out of their tires? Been running M Perf springs and koni yellow the whole time. Tires always rotated every 5k miles, square setup.
-1.3 F and -1.0 R Camber, .2 F total toe and .3 R = 48k miles on DWS06 -1.4 F and -1.4 R Camber, .2 F total toe and .3 R = 28k miles on Michelin PSS -2.5 F and -1.8 R Camber, .2 F total toe and .3 R = a ton of inner wear in front, changed alignment within 5k miles to... -2.0 F and -1.5 R Camber, .1 F total toe and .25R = 22k miles on DWS06+, inner tires are at the wear bars need a new set. |

What size are you're wheels and tyres? You're right about toe mainly causing tyre wear, but camber can really exacerbate it.
I get something like 20k miles with 225/40R18 Michelin PS5. I have as close to zero toe as I can get with my home alignment system, and ~1.8deg of negative camber in the front. My rear has 235/40R18 and stock sport alignment. |

That's quite a bit of toe. I know spec is up to 0.4 total front and rear, but that's just plain absurd, IMO.
Can you share photos of the tires' tread? Camber wear and toe wear look different (camber wear is very uniform. Toe wear is feathered). This looks better, although I would reduce front toe a smidge more (I run zero toe in the front) and reduce rear toe a bit more. You can monitor the wear on this camber setting and gradually add more negative camber if wear looks good. And just to confirm, the camber changes are done together with toe correction, right? Camber affects toe, so you can't just change camber without correcting the resulting toe changes. |

That's super weird, I got almost dead even wear at -2.7 on a street driven car. Only very very slightly more worn on the inside when the tires were worn out all around.
Now I'm at -1.6 and there's no difference on inside vs outside at all. |

Alignment shop would always correct toe when moving camber. Interestingly when I went from -2.5 to -2.0 the toe only moved .01/.02 degrees per side. Middle of the tire has 6/32”, so something like 50% tread left. ![]() ![]() Last edited by bmw335ie90; 02-07-2026 at 12:29 PM.. |

Also, did you confirm all control arms, ball joints and bushings are solid? Anything loose in the suspension can cause abnormal wear. |

To follow up on this….I took the car in for an alignment at a new shop at end of Feb. New shop gave me the typical spiel that the other shop said; my camber is too aggressive and I will never see even wear.
I had them reduce the front toe from .11 total to .05. Tech said the machine is accurate to +/- .02 degrees per side so anything below that could possibly result in toe out. He took the car for a spin to verify there is no toe out, based on feel, and tweaks slightly from there. Wear seems to have slowed down and will continue to monitor, might be able to squeak out 25k miles on this set of square 255/35 Conti DWS06+. This is same amount of mileage i got out of Pilot Super Sports with half as much camber and twice as much toe. |
