BMW diagnostic confirmed problem and also stated that the fuel pump module was bad and needed replacing. Cost - about $3,000. They would not honor the Sulev Warranty because the car was not registered in a Sulev state.

So I started researching and found that Vermont (a Sulev state) allows anyone to register a car (and transfer car title to Vermont) - - without being a Vermont resident, and insurance not required to register/transfer title. So I filled out the application and added the application fee (about $100), overnighted it to a courier in Burlington (paid him about $100), he walked it in, got the temporary title and new license plates and overnighted it back to me.

I changed my plates, towed the car back to BMW, and they did the job under the SULEV warranty.

Yesterday, I transferred my Vermont title back to Florida, about $100.

Thanking God for that success! ✝️

Note: Courier's name is Edimos Delivery Service - at EDS Courier in Burlington. Nice guy, honest, helpful, fair.
You got me so excited! I was thinking to do it!

But it is not possible anymore. You must be a Vermont resident now.

You just have to have a good service advisor and push for them to look into it for you because if it's a non sulev state it's not common for the service advisors to be familiar with it. Or you can call BMWNA and have them talk to your service center to confirm everything.

I’m in Tennessee can you help me out?

Picked up a 2011 auto e92 95k miles. Went to dealer to have Vanos Bolts and PCV valve recall done, had secondary air (2 bank) error code, and "shuddering" from 1.5k - 2k. They did the recall, got a new vcg, vanos bolts, vanos units,.pcv harness mod. Secondary air system was "fixed" with a new hose. Did not find or sense the shuddering so I got charged the 150 fee for diagnostic. Eventually dealt with the transmission myself by changing the filter and fluid which seems to work for now. I was looking for maybe a torque converter change since that was listed on SULEV list of covered parts.... But I have a few months left and I am going to run a OBD2 check a few weeks before it ends...

e90 328i Valve cover gasket

So my car was leaking VCG badly, and I took it to an indi shop. The shop was in the middle of process to remove the valve cover, then I found out that my car was N51. I researched a bit, and found out that it was under SULEV warranty.
I called the shop and ask to stop working on my car. I had to pay about $400 since the mechanic was in the middle of work.

I took my car to a BMW dealer, and told them about SULEV warranty. The guy said that valve cover and gasket are not under SULEV warranty, and I told him that I searched online and it was under the warranty. The guy was skeptical, and he said he will check and call me back.
Long story short, it was under warranty so the dealer fixed it for free.

So make sure you research the warranty and take your car to a dealer because dealer advisors might say different story like my case.
