This is kind of a loaded question... its not time that kills the turbos its use and some luck.
For example, someone who never tuned the car will likely experience longer life since they are only running 8 PSI, vs someone who is pushing the turbos hard at 19+ PSI. The most common failures are usually wastegate rattle, which you will hear the rattling from. Turbo seals will also occasionally fail, and you will see lots of spoke from the tail pipe. A decent rule of thumb is that turbos will need replacement every 100-120K miles for those who don't abuse them. Cost can vary wildlly depending on where you source the new turbos, and/or who is replacing them for you. Obvisouly the stealership will be one of the most expensive ways to source new turbos. I believe sites like FCP Euro charge around $900 per turbo. |

It's relatively random. They usually don't outright fail but will begin rattling, then worsening, and eventually not hitting target boost. Burning oil through turbos is a common thing but not the usual failure mode on these cars. Are you tuned? How many miles? Any wastegate rattle currently?

I’m more impressed that the OP has owned the car for 19 years and only joined the forum in April!
