70.6mpg !!!
Well, my car is now 6 weeks old, 3700 miles under it's tyres.
Left Birmingham on Wednesday afternoon to head north for home, but was on the phone one call after another so just sitting at around 60~65mph all the way along M42. Joining the M1, computer was showing avg mpg as 72!!!, which I just thought, nah, can't be right. Anyhow, topped the tank up at Woodall Services, did the calculations based on ltrs & miles, and yes, 70.6mpg averaged! Amazing, although I doubt I'll be seeing that figure frequently!!! Getting 53~ish on my daily commute though - 16 miles fairly quiet dual-carriageway, then 5 miles heavy urban.

Well, I have just finished my second tank, first tank 39 mpg, second 38mpg.
I didn't think I was driving that hard but I was hoping for 40 something mpg. Basically, well done, good work.

That is good. Best I had from the OBC on a 150 mile trip was 58.6mpg; I averaged 47mpg overall on my E46 320D over 44,000 miles. Hoping to average 44mpg on my new one .
Well done!

The day before UK6 I drove 400 miles with a round trip average of 33.7 mpg on petrol. Now that doesn't seem all that grand over here with your diesels but that was also based on a US gallon of 3.785 litres. Convert that to the UK gallon (25% bigger), that's over 42 mpg. Oh, and that's at 71 mph.
My best recorded gas mileage ever was:

How did you get? Reset it whilst going downhill?
I can't get that in my 330d... mine is always around the 38mpg with mostly motorway drives and some short urban stints over 400miles. |

Didn't beleive the DIS / comp, but did the manual calc after filling up and it was almost spot-on.
Must admit, was only doing 60ish for almost 80~100 miles with no speeding up, slowing down, very light on throttle and brakes, but even so.... My employer will be quids-in!! - my A3 2.0TDi was giving up only 38mpg last 10 months before I changed...

4 laps of the nurburgring + fun local roads and a journey back at speeds I can't mention here (we were late for the ferry) resulted in a very impressive 38.2mpg in my remapped 320D.

Had my car about 8weeks, up to 3,400miles now and averaging 20.4mpg
... it is an M3 though And I'm quite pleased as I'd read some horror stories of others getting 13mpg! |

I'm averaging 20.3 in my M3. Lowest I've had is 9mpg at Snetterton track day
Typically I see 13-15mpg on a spirited drive through the back roads. Best I've seen is 28.8mpg on a motorway cruise. Overall, I'm very pleased with this average given its a 4 litre V8 |

This raises an interesting question. presumably my 20.4mpg is the average since I bought the car. Is it possible to reset this at the start of a trip? So that the average is then what I achieve on that trip rather than taking into account how ever many miles I've done before that?

Just done my first brim to brim (not including driving back from London)
438 miles for 59.5 litres and that with me driving both enthusiastically and like miss daisy. Apparently i was a bit drunk Friday night - out with mates early doors and then gf met up with me for dinner later and more drinks, and in the taxi on the way home, i was 'complaining' that i had to drive around with the windows open in 2 gears less than i should to hear anything and that it was too fast! I have no recollection of this! Still, even with my windows down driving 'style', its just over 100miles better than my 2001 S3 |

Fit an auxiliary tank in the boot well and hope you never get rear-ended. You don't want the DXB to be like a 1970 Ford Pinto.
