I know we've all heard it before, but keep it to the track fellas. Sure driving like an ass on the streets may give you a rush, but for what? Endangering the lives of yourself/others to get your rocks off? I don't know, I don't get it.

Dave is a member here, and this unfortunate accident couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. We are very close and it would be appreciated if you please be sensitive about the matter as you do not know any of the circumstances regarding what really happened.

There was an unfortunate incident during the drive. Dave got in an accident with a pedestrian. No one was speeding, no one was doing anything reckless and there was no racing. Accidents happen.

Dave was going around 40 (if that). We were behind a Jeep Wrangler on a narrow, off camber, poorly paved, leaf covered road.

We are in contact with the appropriate authorities and have provided them with all the information that we presently have. Dave, Dan and myself have provided statements to the LPD. Everyone involved will eventually provide statements to the LPD. This will help provide closure to an unfortunate situation and also establish that racing and speeding had nothing to do with this matter.

If anyone has any information on what happened, please contact the Leominster Police Department or me at (401)439-6700 and I will tell you who to speak to.

Finally, please do not speculate on what happened. The news media was not there. We were there, we saw what happened. It is an unfortunate and tragic situation and is being worsened by the idle speculation of the news media and people posting on various forums.

Dave is of course devastated by what happened. We all are. The ending of a human life in a premature fashion is not to be taken lightly.

Unlike people who have posted before me I was one of the people that were near the location of the accident when it happened and I remained at the scene until the preliminary investigation had been completed. Despite what the media may report there was absolutely no racing, wreckless driving or speed contest leading up to or during the time of the incident. I won’t go into the details but I would like to inform the members of some definite facts.

1. A woman was stuck and killed by a motor vehicle
2. The vehicle was driven by a well know forum member
3. A limited number of people were actually in the position to possibly see the incident occur
4. All who were involved in the incident have fully cooperated with the police in every conceivable way.
5. This incident is in the primary stages of investigation and the cause of the accident has yet to be determined.
6. Everyone that has been contacted about this incident has voluntarily given our accounts to the police.

Actually, I didn't even know it was Dave prior to your post. I can attest that Dave is a real standup guy and he's been helping out the BMW community for much longer than I have. Please wish him the best.

Best wishes to Dave and the family of the woman who was struck and killed. Things like this make you realize how fragile life can be.

Wow, that's really rough. It's easy to forget that it may be nearly as hard on Dave as it is on the family of the woman. Devastating for all involved.

My thoughts and condolences go out to the woman's family before these upcoming holidays.... She probably chose to live in a quiet neighborhood, and this is her fate? - She is leaving behind a husband and 4 kids..

He must be a good kid and all....but he did kill someone and I think he needs to be responsible in some way
