I myself bought a set of replica E39 M5 wheels with snow tires for the winter. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33883 It's worth checking out whats available from 1010Tires.com or TireTrends.com. Both are based out of BC and have good prices, you can find 17" alloy rims compatible with our cars for around $150 a piece if I'm not mistaken.

However, if you trust your dealer and they say it'll work, then go for it. I ended up paying just over $1800 (including taxes (14% here) and shipping) for these --> http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39207
