UPS Brokerage fees

Guys,

I'm wondering what do the brokerage fees depend on when lets say shipping a product from the States. Is it the price of the product or, weight, size those kind of things? It hurts sometimes when u pay unreasonable amount for nothing

Thanks in advance!

I paid around $400 for my 300C rims last summer. I would stay away from using UPS but that been said, I've had 4 packages sent via USPS opened by customs and taxed quite a bit. I remember when most stuff sent via USPS would sneak through without paying much.

That's correct but sometimes the issue with that USPS shipments get delayed for a few days or even weeks because of no brokerage service. I'm still waiting for my aerolip which I assume is stuck in customs and it's almost been 2 weeks since it was shipped. I also read that if you use UPS express shipping, they charge the brokerage fee within the price and can be cheaper.

Never ship via UPS, they're crooks. I make it a point to never buy from a place that ships with UPS.

+1

Unless it is a package under $20 , and exempt, I avoid buying if UPS is the only options for shipping.

Most of the time, I order my stuff to Maine, and drive accross the border and pick it up (1.5 hour drive each way, but generally worth it) I just did this yesterday actually for some parts from Tischer and my super secret Rim PowderCoating custom color.

USPS is the only viable option

As others have posted I try to avoid using UPS whenever it's possible. USPS works great and many do provide help by using USPS when requested. If you you are fortunate enough to leave near a US border I would recommend using this method if shipping UPS is only option or for an expensive purchase.

I have bought many sets of wheels/tires over the years and have shipped them to a UPS location in Plattsburgh NY, I request that the shipment be held for pick-up "HOLD FOR PICK UP" is written on package by sender. Not the most practical solution but is very cost effective!!!

Another solution is finding a company that allows you to clear customs yourself.

BTW FedEx is not much better, with them you just get an invoice 3 weeks, a month or two later !!!
